I made it there. It was fun. Here is a short bit of video demonstrating such.

That looks hella fun.
I'll be at the hill starting Thursday and it can't come soon enough.
Anyone know if there's anything going on at the bar or elsewhere nearby for New Year's Eve? Some drinks and music would probably suffice for a fun time.

Anyone local to Londonderry that might be able to help find someone to babysit my son (in the lodge, preferably) for a few hours (say 10-2ish?) a couple of Saturdays this winter? He's 1.5 and pretty easy to take care of as long as you've got a solid supply of cheerios.

Woot woot!
Glad everybody had fun last week, I know I sure did, despite the plague which hit me full force on Monday. The snow was amazing to say the least, and it's not ALL gone, just most of it. I'm willing to bet the mank layer stuck in the woods, which can only be good for the next storm.
To any of the guys who want someone to show them around, just shoot me a PM before you head out- the more notice the better, as sometimes I'll leave early and there's no interwebz up there. I'd love to show people around, so just let me know ahead of time and I'll do my best to oblige ya!"If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise." -Robert Fritz

Just a thought but i wonder if you could hire a cpuple of those girls on sat and sun days to watch the kids while parents ski, assuming they are mature and good with kids.....I know if i was a parent and had the opportunity to throw some HS or college kid 30 or 50 bucks for a few hours to watch kid ,,, could be pricelss on good days...I am sure i worded this whole thing wrong but i think you guys understand what i mean.......

Will definitely shoot you a PM on Friday. Thanks!
That's exactly what I'm trying to work out. Have one promising lead already, and will follow up with Typestries on this other option. Would love to have someone watch my son in the lodge so the Mrs & I can ski together and pop in from time to time to check in. If the sitter(s) could handle it, it would probably work out well to have someone watch a couple of kids at the same time.Going where the wind don't blow so strange

^^ there could be some kind of setup to have them give a %age back to the mountain, no? not a bad amenity for magic to pursue. i would be into having access to this when i am up there this season (hopefully a few times at least).

I'm unsure about the VT laws and rules but I'd be worried that if it was a regular program and Magic got some % of monies they'd have to register as a day care provider which if VT is anything like NY carries TONS of regulations and inspections.
Informal parental babysitting is an entirely different animalFor sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Daycare is enough of a hassle that Belleayre stopped their program this year.

Yes, this is the rub. Magic doesn't need any money from this as it adds a whole set of issues we don't have the time/resources to tackle right now. I have been looking too for Bridger so add a 25 month old to the list. If some parents are in I would be willing to give up the room (old ski shop) near the old bar to dedicate to a play area. Bring some toys up, changing table, etc.

I just read the entire post and all I can say is WOW!!!!!
Looks like the prior 'owners' still hold some grudges and can not admit that they failed at running the mountain and that the new management is doing a great job. Magic is in the best shape it has ever been in years. Jim and Matt are passioniate, hard working and willing to put in the work that the mountain needed. Not to mention starting the Co-op and raising the awareness surrounding Magic.
Way to take the high road Matt and after reading the entire post, Winhall is still the spoiled little brat he always was and will always be......
Pray for snow.why make ten turns when you only need to make NONE!
