2010-2011 Mt. Hood
i love reading the snow in the pnw thread, but it seems like there's enough mt. hood people to have a specific thread.
tuesday and wednesday were great at meadows. can't wait until school's back in session though so i can enjoy some relative solitude.

Not gonna lie. Given your track record I figured this was going to be about someone dying on Hood.
I wouldn't cry if this took off.Training for Alpental

haha. the thought crossed my mind that that thought might cross a few other minds. i promise not to post any obituaries in this thread. i just want a place to go to read specifically about mt. hood and all the good stuff that happens on it and any additional beta that people feel like sharing. for me, the catastrophic type news is not some fascination with death, but a good (albeit unfortunate) opportunity to learn.
for the purposes of this thread, though, let's keep it all about LIVING on mt. hood.
if you want it to take off, you have to help. there should be more than enough mt. hood denizens to make it work.

2 days then I get back for a month of shredding the hood.
Anyone got any beta on S&R cliffs/ Private Reserve? Open? Conditions? Fucking stoooooked to get back and not deal with a 2hr I-70 trip just to ski.

was down for the opening of heather two weekends ago.. such a deep snowbase (compared to whistler a few days before). did timberline the next day and lived in the trees while the other 99% of the people stayed to the groomers. will definitely have to head back once everything is open!

Last word was they were still waiting on snow bridges. There are still a few spots in Heather roped off (not the usual spots) because the snow bridges aren't filled in yet. I would imagine it's coming though. I can't wait to get in there myself.
Aside from the Pineapple Express that came through last weekend, conditions have been great. Temps have been low, and snow quality has been far and above what we saw last year.Training for Alpental

Nice work on getting the thread going. I'll contribute a JONG post to help keep it going.

Last time I did a demo day, i wound up with a brand new pair of skis.
They usually go pretty smooth. You get a sheet of paper where you fill out liability release shit and i think I had to turn over my ID for the duration, but you basically go to each booth and the reps set the skis for your skier level and BSL and then you can take them out for 20-30 min or so.

^^^The last demo day I remember at MHM was kind of a shitshow - took 45 minutes to get my first set, then after that they always seemed to be out of what I wanted to try.

Skibowl has a great vibe and the snow was sweet to carve Thursday night, until the chair broke down but a rain check to return. So after the holidays.
