This thread feels about the same as being in the lift line at Meadows.

Both Oregon 35 and U.S. 26 have reopened after accidents near Mount Hood Meadows closed both highways, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Oregon 35 was closed in in both directions from White River to Mount Hood Meadows because of a multi-vehicle crash, and U.S. 26 was closed about 8 miles west of its intersection with Oregon 35."We sit together, the mountain and I, until only the mountain remains." -Li Po

Hate what a cluster 35 turns into when the PDXers get routed through the valley.
Good conditions today/tonight and getting better. The next four days should be Hood at it's best.Last edited by Grizz; 12-26-2010 at 10:59 PM.

We did it tonight and it rocked...Gettn sum more in the am , but that looks to be the warmest of the next week... Just have to tough it out as it was coming down hard and stacking up fast when we closed it down tonight....
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves

This just in from Meadows Twitter:
"Access road closed due to car fire. We are diverting all traffic to HRM"
HRM shitshow incoming."All men are frauds. The only difference between them is that some admit it. I myself deny it."

jesus. between the rain and this i'm glad i didn't go up today. i'm always amazed at what a disaster that access road can become in a hurry. i can have zero trouble all the way up and i get to the access road and people are stranded sideways, putting chains on for the last 1/4 mile, etc.

My biggest pet peeve honestly is the cocksucker who feels like they have to pass every car on the road that isn't doing 50. The pulling in and parking right next to said cocksucker who was in such a hurry. And STILL ending up 4 chairs in front of them at opening. I don't get it.
I don't ever bother with the main lot anymore unless it's a full blown family deal."All men are frauds. The only difference between them is that some admit it. I myself deny it."

car fire, wtf? woke up at 6, checked out temps, looked bad, meadows reported rain at the base and snow up top (i know EXACTLY what that means), said screw it, and went bad to bed. from the looks of it, looks right a good call. fingers crossed on tomorrow, come on temps drop!

YES!! This drives me nuts, just like the whack that tailgates me on the way down in a flood. I got rear ended by just that bro-tastic douchnozzle on the way home the night of the 11th, driving a crapped out Subaru wagon, smelling like what he had smoked all day (I don't care, just don't drive on it, please) and wearing his coat with no shirt. Luckily he mashed his front end on the trailer ball I have hanging out the back of my old Suburban - no damage to me.
You're on a mountain road through Bennett Pass for ~8 miles. What are you seriously going to gain going 5-10 mph faster in the straight spots?
