Well Lab Fest saturday night was certainly an interesting evening. Did not meet any mags though.

We can't even get the CNY mags all together at once place (even a small group), let alone bring a masshole into the mix.

    Would be fun though...

Might have to find a new place to ski soon! Looking like GP is gonna tank.

    ORly?

Whoda thunk a ski area with a waterpark, hotels and zipline in cny wouldn't survive, especially in a lean snow year.

Yeah no kidding. Shocking that nobody else wanted to pick up their loans after their bank went under.

I suspect that they'll "Song Mountain" their way through this.

Step 1) Bankruptcy, but original owners will hang on for a few years, maybe scale back operations (do you really need three lifties at the bottom of every chair?)
Step 2) The sell off to some group/VC firm/owner of another mountain, this will last a year or two
Step 4) The sell of part 2, to someone that realizes they need to run a leaner shop
Step 5) regulars get annoyed at how lean of a shop they are running, go elsewhere
Step 6) Moderate improvements are made, along with a lot of marketing hype
Step 7) Either right the ship or revert to step 1

Lived in ny my whole life and finally made it WEST to greek peak. Nice place, great vibe, very fun skiing today. If there's ever a cny mini you can count me in.

Hoping to hit one of the waterfalls tomorrow after making turns, is the hike at buttermilk super technical in winter? I'm getting very mixed reports, from easy walking up stairs and trails to YOU'RE GONNA DIE!

edit to add: didn't make the falls. Next time Taughkannic.

It's a hard living. I never had the cahones to buy and run a resort but my friends that do kill themselves to eek out a very stressful lifestyle. Seems like a golf course to me, you make your only money on the real estate development and that game may be over. I admire the guys at Greek for trying.

And, I'm midweek in CNY and hit the occasional nightski at Greek.
