I hacked TiVO this weekend
I know, Tech Talk, but no one really checks there on a regular basis... and I wanted to share.
While the Utards (and others) were goin' off this weekend I decided that 35 hrs recording time on my DirecTV/TiVO combination box was just not enough, especially with the WC season starting, "Pornucopia" on HBO, and the standard fare for the Frau like "Lost" and all...

Bought a 120GB EIDE drive for under $100 at BestBuy (hey - instant gratification!)
Spent about 3 hours fucking around w/my computer and TiVO box plugging and unplugging drives, following the beyond easy directions...
...and now have a box that'll hold about 150hrs of material! I highly recommend doing the same if you're a TiVO fan like I am.
I now return you to tapping your toes until GT40 posts the weekend's pics.

That site is a mess. FAQ is meant to answer some questions you might have not to be read top to bottom to figure out what the hell is going on. I could not find one complete walk through of how to install the new disk so I went out to the front page. What an ugly disaster that was it looks like the designer forgot to take his ADD meds.

Search around if that site isn't to your liking. This certainly isn't a new idea. Making your own Tivo box really only takes a big hard drive, a cheap motherboard, cpu, and other essentials, and a video card with a TV/cable input.
