Bramhall, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Tedeschi Trucks. Really glad we went in for the openers. Sharon is simply awesome. What a talent.

    TTB? Sick.

Saw moe at the casino ballroom in Hampton beach. Eh, it was ok. Nate Wilson formerly of AOD sat in on keys. They jam and all, but the songs are just ok IMO. Click image for larger version.

And the lights behind the band continually blinded me, which is annoying. Low stages and those behind spotlights are a bad combo.

Hanging out in Strawjack's backyard, I hope he bought you a beer or 2😄!

I agree on moe., a few talented players in the band without question but the songs have never done much for me musically. If you haven't already seen UM, do yourself a favor and catch a show next time they are around. Definitely a band you have to see live before you can really get their dynamic as the energy just doesn't translate through recordings...and the light show Waful puts on is CK'esque.

well fuck, was going to imbed a couple photos from Targhee Bluegrass Fest last weekend, what a PITA limp-dicked system.

Jerry Douglas was amazing with his new group, Earls of Leicester, [earls of lester, doing all flatt/scruggs tunes]. Barry Bales from Alison Krause, Shawn Camp, damn superband. Lake Street Dive closed it out in fine form as well...

I almost went to that show, but had something else going on I guess. That is my backyard, but the armpit of my backyard I stay a little north of that scene unless there's a show to hit.

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, always so fucking good.

The Wood Brothers were great too...

^ the best lyric..."She says I wanna do right, but not right now."

I've been lucky enough to see GW and DR many times. I might have shared this already but I got to talk with Dave on the lawn at SPAC a few years ago and then he and Gillian sat next to me down in the shed during a Bob Dylan set later.

I saw OCMS a few weeks ago. They are much more mainstream county sounding these days. Not quite as high/lonesome/string band as they had been.

It's funny, I only know the music and what banter they have on stage, but they just seem like cool people, people you'd dig hanging out with and shooting the shit.

Saw the Dave Rawlings Machine earlier this year, was fun to see the other half on Sunday.

I saw OCMS last summer, and I agree (though they still put on a great show).

Shit, time flies, just looked and the show I was referencing was last year. That's the one I meant, fuck it was good.

Caught the Foo Fighters at Fiddlers Green in Denver on Monday. Even with a busted leg and sitting in a makeshift throne Dave Grohl and the rest of the band were amazing. Highly recommend catching their tour.

^AGREE! Foo Fighters have so much great energy. Caught them last month. Was hoping to catch them again when new dates were added but wasnt meant to be.

I did catch Dick Dale tonight in a very small venue. He is such a legend and seemed like a genuinely cool guy.

I enjoy Dave Grohl inviting special guests to play for a few songs, you never know who is going to pop up. I always thought it would be awesome to see Dick Dale playing with the Foo Fighters. I'd bet Dave would be way in to it.

sorry for the low quality but I was trying to be stealth and respectful of Dick....

^my cousin Chris plays guitar for the Foos, so I've seen them a bunch. They really take touring, putting on a good show, seriously. The first time I was introduced to Dave Grohl all he wanted to talk about was what I thought of the lighting and camera work. The second time I was introduced he still had no idea who I was but was very polite nevertheless.

Doobie Brothers last night @ Capitol Theater, Port Chester NY. Such a great band. Sounded and looked great. One of the best venues around. Great mix of songs. They really brought the house down on their encores. (crappy phone pics)

Saw Drive-By Truckers and Alabama Shakes Friday night at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia MD. The truckers were really on, their sound was a bit more focused and clean than I've heard it before, they were way into it too. Alabama Shakes was the headliner, people were more into them than the truckers, honestly it was an odd pair of bands except they're both from Alabama. What's-her-name, Brittany, in Shakes is super talented no doubt but it kinda doesn't reach me except for the soul stuff, which to me is the best stuff they do. She can wail and when it's a groovy soul tune that Otis Redding might have sung she nails it. When they try to rock out more I dunno, it's not quite right for her imo.

Donna The Buffalo last night at the Tally Ho Club in Leesburg VA. Great show, they were rally on. I've loved these guys for years. The band has gone though a lot of iterations (except for Jeb and Tara) and the group they have now cooks. the jammed the fuck out on a few tunes, played more reggae-influened stuff than in recent years (West Virginia Rasatafari" was a good new tune) and the brought it back to their core philosophy of positive evolution with a great extended verion of "We're working on that". Always a good time. No opening at, they played for 2.5 hours without a break and and they were into it.

Firefall was from Boulder and kind of the theme from my college years.
I've seen them a bunch of times and they always put on a great show!

    Poco' sound sucked.

Saw AC/DC Friday at AT&T Park in SF. Angus can still stomp all those power licks and they played all the songs that the crowd wanted to hear. Brian Johnson sounds like a strangled cat but nobody cared. Ears were still ringing in Sunday. Crowd was great - fun was had by all. Shot video mostly but have some pics from the floor.
