Saw Dave Matthews Band on Friday at the Greek in Berkeley. For me, DMB is hit and miss, but this was hands down the best DMB show I've ever seen. Even did a great cover of Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer. Set list: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dave-m...-2bce0c16.html

Tedeschi Trucks at the Beacon Saturday. Openers were the Hard Working American, Butch Truck's (Derek's brother's) band. Never heard of them and was surprised to see Dave Schools on bass.

Jimmy Herring was in town for the Q show, and I bumped into Baracco in the lobby but he didn't play.

    TTB's horn section is awesome.

Is $100 really the going rate for second balcony/bleacher seats nowadays?
$300 for the floor first 25 rows?

    What?

Orchestra 2, Row F $100.00 fees included. Not sure what the amateurs pay

I am having a hard time finding tickets in a reasonable price range for the Brothers next month. It may not work out, I have limits.

Just pulled the trigger on $147 for Joe Bonamassa, third row balcony in a 2500 seat theatre next April. Juxtaposed against $35 for Govt Mule in a 2000 seat outdoor amphitheatre this past summer . . .

MMP - Sucks to hear about Brian, I hadn't seen that yet!

Jimmy is the SHIT, wish I had more chances to see him these days...some of my fav stuff of his other than ARU and Jazz is Dead were his gigs with Col Bruce and Bobby Lee Rodgers (Codetalkers), some insane shows. A close friends band opened for many of the Jazz is Dead tour shows back in 99, really friendly, down to earth guy.

I looked in to getting some tiks for the Bros. also, limits and then some. BTW, can Schools get any bigger before he bursts, seriously!

Attended Freshgrass in North Adams, MA back in September. What a cool venue and festival. Here are a couple of sets for everyone to enjoy. I have already done all the hard work, so the downloads are zips of lossless .wav files that can imported directly into your media program of choice.

That troubadour from Hibbing got up and cranked up his cultural conveyor spewing tonal hamburgers and the occasional severed leg in fishnets all over a bed of pedal steel and honky tonk boogy woogy piano, chunks of American music among pimps, junkys and prostitutes. His voice is down in the gravel but blocks of American musical bedrock got pulled from the strata. It was great to feel our cornerstones.

    Setlist:
    Things Have Changed

    She Belongs To Me

    Beyond Here Lies Nothin'

    Workingman's Blues #2

    Waiting For You

    Pay In Blood

    Tangled Up In Blue

    Love Sick

    High Water (For Charley Patton)

    Simple Twist Of Fate

    Early Roman Kings

    Forgetful Heart

    Spirit On The Water

    Scarlet Town

    Soon After Midnight

    Long And Wasted Years

Peter Rowan just played the tiny McCoy Studio theater in Maui Solo.
Magic. Song selection, guitar playing and talk between song just amazing.
His voice is still clear and sweet as it was when he recorded with Jerry and the in 1975.
He did a few old favorites from Old and in the Way, some new material and some bluegrass classics.

One song on a tiny 1965 Kamaka Ukulele. And he can sing falsetto!
I never heard his tribute to Doc before-

Next week David Lindley playing solo in the same venue.

Rodrigo y Gabriela in Northampton last night. Talented and interesting showmanship and graphics on screen. Had never seen a camera clipped to the head of the guitar shooting down the neck and played on-screen. Shit color and resolution but interesting anyway.

As for the venue, I got kicked out for moving up to an empty seat close to the stage during the encore break. They came back out, we sat down, I got tapped on the shoulder and booted. First time ever being kicked out of anywhere. And I have been to a few shows in my day. Fuck the Calvin. Boycott is on. Butthurt or not, biting off my nose to spite my face or not, their security are amateurs and can fuck off. I wish I had taken the high road rather than telling the guy their security sucks and to fuck off as I flipped him off and walked out. I was pretty upset.
