Enchantments and Bham
Havent posted on here in a while. Sort of lost interest in photography for a while. Debated selling my camera to fund new skis/pass this season. I realized I would regret that and started using it again this summer/fall. Didnt need to sell it either since I landed a few good summer jobs and got set up on gear swap again.
Been meaning to post some of these for a while and havent. Suppose I can thank daylight savings time for making me finally do it. A good chunk of these are from the enchantments and the rest are from my random outings around Bellingham.
Enough bullshit. Heres some photos and to a good winter. Let me know what you think. Good or bad.

Ive also been playing around with trying to figure out timelapses. Pretty entertaining.

Don't sell your camera. You've got a good eye for capturing moments - gorgeous shots

That second one is money! Thank you for taking a shot of water without motion blur, that's really really nice to see every once in a while.

Good captures.
Check for dust spots on 3 & 5 of the second set.
This is the worst pain EVER!

Another vote here for keeping your camera, there's some strong work in this little collection.

#1 and #7 are my favorites. Where does the smudgy blackness around the trees in #1 come from? I wonder if it would work even better with less of that.

Compositionally speaking these are all really strong shots. As others have mentioned, clean your sensor. The only other thing I'd take a look at would be the color balance in some of these; specifically, #4 looks slightly more yellow than it maybe should and #6 looks pretty blue to my eyes. In #1 you can see some artifacts (I'm not sure if that's the right term or not) of you cranking up the saturation especially in the lower 3rd of the frame, watch for that. I like the yellow tint on #7 though; whether its natural light or not, it works. Definitely a good thing you kept your camera. You're in a great location to be shooting for sure. And you definitely have a great eye for composition. Looking forward to more.

Noticed the dust too after my last batch and cleaned my camera. Was already dirty and got dirtier on that trip. Im working on an uncalibrated laptop so the color balance could be off on some of them.
I have another version of 1 that you guys might like better. I kept going back and forth on the two of them. Saturation is not pushed much at all though on this one.
4 and 6 Im not sure on. They have been edited a bit but didn't mess with the color much at all if any. 7 is one of the more processed ones but the color balance is heavy on the blue side for me. Be curious to hear from others with better/calibrated monitors.
Thanks for the comments.

FWIW I'm on a MacBookPro with a 15" monitor.
edit: Just got my hands on a copy of lightroom. Here's what I did with #4 & #6. Maybe my screen/eyes are fucked up, I dunno.
your original #6

after a bit of messing in LR

Original #4

LR edit

Just my opinion though, and you know what they say about opinions...Last edited by pbourdon; 11-16-2010 at 08:10 PM.
