The day that the incoming congress represents "the people" is the day that this grand experiment can be called a success. Until then, we have Karl Rove's NeuesArbeitsgruppe outspending the unions to get their boys in office.
My question is, why are "regular joes" so horny for uber elite hedgefund managers who might get a tax break over this? Since you (in the grand sense) won't ever touch that kind of personal wealth, we (outside looking in) have to assume general idolatry, racism, homophobia, or any of the other "mainstream" issues that could be important to an average, hard-working american who ISN'T EVER going to be affected negatively by what is commonly referred to as Obamacare.
That, IMHO, is the grand disconnect.... jfost is really ignorant, he often just needs simple facts laid out for him...

...and the basis of the fear mongering, just as the very conveniently forgotten fact that the Stimulus included the largest middle class tax CUT of the last 50 years.

I've wondered this very same thing myself MANY MANY times!!! Although I have purposefully taken the last part of your quote out of context by way of abridgement, I too would have to assume some form of general IDOLATRY, an idolatry of the uber-wealthy whose status they will unlikely EVER attain themselves, thus becoming akin to the idolatry of the Hollywood set.
Misplaced passion derived from aggregate brainwashing, me thinks. Imagine the potential in our fair society if such passion were directed towards actually "doing good"...and putting the passion back into "compassion."
