Skied on Macpherson today, found some very good turns around treeline. The usual places are tracked out, but it isn't hard to find untouched lines.

Looks like more snow coming this weekend. Wish I could afford to rip up there Rob, real estate market isn't what has been the past few years.

On a positive note, spent a couple of days up at the pinnacles last week. Really nice snow, not the best place for sled laps but easy access for some wicked touring terrain. 300cm's at 7000ft.

Heh, I wish I could afford a sled. Maybe next year...
I'm sure I can convince you to come here if we ski Mackenzie's East face this spring

Hey Hefe, I went up in that area on monday to check things out, aiming to see if there are any lines on Yeoward mt. There were lots of trucks comming out there and had no radio, so gave it a pass. Ever check that area out? Again looking for stuff available from the car.
Kept on driving the highway about 10 ks, and parked at the bottom of of a steep logging road, just looking for some turns. It was a dead end clearcut with very average skiing. Was about to just head home and get some work done, but thought the trees above might be hiding some better snow. It got deeper, lighter and more open. Then after climbing 1000 ft in the trees Out poped an amazing 35-45 degree, high alltitude clear cut.

Laped that for the rest of the day. The mitt gives the blower snow high ratings....

02-24-2011, 11:33 AM #332So you went back to the hwy off of Keefer Lake rd and kept going towards needles?Kept on driving the highway about 10 ks, and parked at the bottom of of a steep logging road, just looking for some turns.
I have heard that people have been skiing Yeoward off of that logging road all winter. Depending on how far you can get up there is some cool terrain in there. Find somebody with a radio! It looks like it gets wind blasted in the main south facing bowl but there are some wicked looking trees in there.
We were skiing in the Vista pass area. It is set up perfectly for touring. 2 long ridges with a mellow valley in between for the up. I will try and grab a screen shot (when it wasn't nuking) from my contour.www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

I access Yeoward from the Keefer lake lodge as well as The Dome. I have only seen one other group there that followed me up to the dome and skied the south facing gullies there in dec. Normally I am the only person there though. Yeoward is a bit quicker to access from the lodge and it has some nice east facing glades. No technical terrain, unless you drop off the north faces if that is what you are looking for. If someone has pics of the north faces of Yeoward and The Dome + the east face of The Dome in winter that they could put up that would be awesome!

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Gonna wait for some more snow before heading out there. Hefe, just drove another 10 Ks and parked on the south side, right at the chain up sign. Stright up from there.
Just did a few quick laps at Big White this morning. I'm guessing everywhere in the area is the same right now. Wind hammered in the alpine, but decent turns at treeline. crappy cell phone pics...

Cold and almost sunny...

Very cool pix! Almost surreal lighting and shadows.

Skied Napoleon Spur in Rogers Pass yesterday. First lap we descended the south facing slopes. The snow was really good up top but turned into an awful sun crust as we got lower. We went back up and skied back down the east-facing side and had really good conditions down to the car.
Also caught the slideshow and talk by Chic Scott, which was really cool.

Just bumping this thread from page four because of how deep it's been lately. Monday was my best day of the year and its barely stopped snowing since then.

Skiings been reaalllyy good! Skied a fun line lookers left of the fingers on Macpherson yesterday. Temps remained nice and cool, but some graupel from Feb 28th down 35cm is of note - guessing its an isolated thing as it was not prevalent over on Begbie on the 1st. Been an awesome season, wish I wasn't sick today!!

My question for the reve rippers is ...
The year to date figures reve is posting don't add up.
Ok so I'm wrong regularly, but,
a week or 2 ago it was noticably behind fernie's totals (yes yes Fernie's figure is bullshit-ish too)
a week or 2 ago it was about the same as kicking horse,
now they say 832cm total with 55cm in the last 7 days.
Fernie is saying 767cm total with 93cm in last 7 days.
KH says 653cm total with 38cm in last 7 days.
I noticed reve bumped its season total a few days ago, maybe as much as week ago.
has anyone else noticed this, or is there a explanation for this.
Or is there a way we can get thier snowfall history?
surely there is an answer to this that this drunk can't find or comprehend.
But I'm concerned Reve"s year to date has risen by 2m in a week, even if it was 2 weeks thats still bullshit.
bueller ...
bueller ...Hell, it only took me one gondola ride at KH to know I'd never spend five minutes in the backcountry with Shadam. = Eldo ...

Here you go my friend.
Not that snow totals are so important at this point. Everything is at normal or just under around here.HTML Code:http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/data/asp/realtime/basin_nsthompson.htm

Such great snow out there. A couple of pics from Fri/Sat:
The plan was to spend a couple of days around Mica to explore some new areas. Johnny heading out...

Looking towards The bustling Mica Crek Village and CMH Monashees.

Kinbasket lake in the background

Some of the best trees anywhere in this area

A pic of the run. 5000 ft of faceshots.

And back to the car by dark. Couldn't make it back to the cabin with all the snow, so headed into revelstoke for a couple of runs down the fingers. Amazing snow up high, and a bit heavy down below. There was 65 cm of storm snow sitting on the sun/hoar layer just below 5000ft.

A bit of sun and snow on saturday...

Is the bridge across the river below the dam always plowed or just when they are logging?
-

Yea, the bridge goes to the dam and is always plowed. The Dutchman was plowed until end of december.

Nice photos and beauty terrain! How long of a hike was that, looks like a long slog.
Was out on Saturday as well, pretty epic mix of deep light snow and sun.
Finally ticked this one off of the list, been checking it out since December.

nice video hefe, i like the sled rooster and the bail also. its nice to see someone whose camera isn't looking straight down! keep it up
-
03-08-2011, 03:43 PM #349
^^ yeah that bail is too funny, that sled is from the 70's and the throttle tends to stick a bit, my bro thought the sled was a goner. pretty funny to see someone run that fast in ski boots.

Nice line, Hefe. Looking at the dots, you can almost feel the turns...
Yea, didn't think your brother would catch that sled. Maybe he'd be interested in joining our Ski to Sea team? 12 minutes of sprinting is ski boots? Ha.
Yea, Mica was a 5 hour up. A slower pace than normal, but very worth it.
