    Replacement for 2011 Rossi S6

So I had been planning on picking up a pair of this years S6s. Seeing as how that ski might not actually exist his year, anyone have any recommendations for a similar ski. I got to ski the S6s and liked them but never got on anything similar. I have been looking at the Atomic Blog. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks

Katana. A little longer and beefier, but basically a ski with traditional sidecut and lots of tip and tail rocker.

this year's 184 dsender has tip and tail rocker. 112 underfoot. probably similar

    Armada JJ?

edit: oops. For some reason I was thinking S3 as it seems like a skinnier JJ.

Thanks for the input. I actually just sold my Katanas. I wasnt a huge fan of them. I had considered the Desnder. I havent seen any in person but if the early rise is significant enough that might be an option. The JJ might be a little to wide for what I am looking for. Keep the ideas coming. Any opinions on the Blogs? I only found a couple of reviews on them.

I would think the Blogs are in a different class due to the early taper. They probably won't hold an edge like the S6.

What were you looking for in the S6 that you're hoping for this ski to do?

IMO, the most similar offerings (deepish sidecut, subtle rocker, more playful than chargy, twintip) are Gotamas and 4FRNT Turbos. If you didn't care about a twintip, I would think K2 Sidestash would be worth a look. Czars could be good too, though they're a bit uninspiring on groomers compared to other skis in the class. The new Dynastar 6th Sense Huge is interesting too, a relatively traditional ski with tip and tail rocker (though I haven't seen any and don't know how much rocker they actually have, but last year's have been considered to be quite solid on edge).

I would imagine the Billy goats would be similar. Prophet 115. Alot of taper on S6 so Lhasa 186 would be similar except in radius. Light poppy and floaty
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

I am looking for a new everyday driver for summit/eagle county. I liked the S6 because it can hold an edge on groomers, they are playful, super manageble in bumps and trees, but can float for the one powder run I hike to (this is key, hence the rocker and width). I do want a twin tip. I dont want them to be much wider than the S6 for quiver overlap reasons. I dont need a new powder ski, just one that can hang when needed.

I just got rid of some Turbos. They were super damp, not very playful, and last years model did not have early rise although they claimed it did. They sort of turned me off of 4frnt. I have looked at the gotamas as well but thought they might be to "chargy" as you put it. I would be all over them if I thought they were a little more playful. Thanks again for the input.

Playful seems to be your key word.

Last year's Obsethed, or the new Kung Fujas?

I like the dsender and can get a good deal on a new pair. i was just worried it might be to chargy for what i am looking for. the reviews i have read do say otherwise, but i sort of find it hard to believe seeing the specs.

Gotamas aren't that chargy. Still easy to spin, flip, and mess around on. Fun ski.
My drinking buddies say i have a skiing problem...

Damn. This is just getting harder. I guess I am thinking Gotama and D Sender. I can get the D Sender for a lot cheaper, so maybe I will go with that. wish I wasnt in a hurry so I could try and get on them both and then decide.

Second vote for rockered Gotamas. Stupid easy to ski (even on groomers) and fun just about everywhere. I have limited time on the 186's, but this will be may daily driver for the coming season. I like them so much, I might even sell the S3's I bought earlier the year but play second string to the Gotamas.

Agree with Bandit Man. the 186 gotama is "stupid easy" to ski and definitely fun. I would not be scared of it being too much of a charger.

Gotamas are easy to ski but are not playful. It's a Race ready pow ski. Did not even catch that hogan typo. For what it's worth I don't know of any playful volkl. Blog seems good too. However i have not skiied the new gotama and maybe others can comment if it's more playful. To me playful and easy to ski are very different.
