Your best bet is dukes, they are the standard burly at binding. Don't even think about naxos. Oh, and search JONG

someone was joking with your friend. My 145# friend broke his naxos after 30 days or so.

Dukes are the burliest and the heaviest. There are lots of choices depending on how badly you want to abuse them. Dukes are an alpine binder you can do some touring on. On the opposite side of the scale are dynafits which are very light touring bindings you can do some resort skiing on.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Dukes are THE burly AT binding. To the point alot of people argue they are heavy alpine bindings with a walk mode. If your friend is truly after something burly and doesn't care about weight, dukes are really the only choice.

I tuned at a resort shop last year, we did a lot of work for the guys on patrol. With that being said I would really only recommend the duke. The I was not impressed with the durability of the naxo's at all. With a guy in that weight range if he is a type 3 skier he is likely going to be maxing out the din on the naxo as well. Obviously I don't know bsl or skier type ect, but to be safe I would say go duke.

I've broken everything out there. I reluctantly recommend the dukes. If you keep the AFD adjusted just right, they should be pretty bomber for you. They're heavy and tour like shit, but they get the job done.

What's with people on this board and the anti-greater ape sentiment. What, do big guys make you feel "small"? Compensating?
Just because we are well-rounded, doesn't mean we can't rip. You just try to keep up with 265lbs of PURE MOMENTUM!!!
Oh, and we stay warmer too...

I nothing of what's wrong or right with trekkers, having never used them, or even seen them in person. If I had to guess, it would be:
*heavy (fixable for sure - can you say carbon fiber?)
*no climbing post (probably a good solution for that)
*terrible pivot point (that's gonna be tough to deal with)

for the best burly AT binding for a guy that size, I would recommend the search. It is tough enough for charging, but is still good for touring. It has always gotten me to the places I need to go.
Ps. dukes

Yeah the trekkers really do blow. They are too heavy, too tall, and have a terrible pivot point. Other than that they are sweet... I used them for exactly one tour four years ago. Then I bought dukes. Then I bought barons. Now I have dynafits.

I weigh 240 and ski hard. The dukes were rock solid for me in a 50+ day season so I would recommend them.

I have trekkers, dynafits, and snowshoes. YMMV.
