    Need woman's snowshoe boot suggestion

Ok, maggetts and maggots, need some help on a pretty specific need. My wife loves to snowshoe and plans on doing a few yurt hikes this winter with some friends (I envision some pretty sweet girl on girl, but that's just me). I bought her some great snowshoes last fall and this fall I want to get her some great boots/footwear to accompany the snowshoes. She has been borrowing some sort of footwear from her sister but I don't think its optimal.

So, is this a specific type of footwear? I assume I am looking for just a water-proof type-hiking boot, but maybe this is a niche item. I want to get her the absolute best (see: comfortable, waterproof, snowshoe compatible, the most recommended).

    Where do I start here?

    a good winter hiking boot?

more support then a sorel winter boot, more warmth then a hiking boot?

how cold will the trips be? all hut based? (no snow caves/tents, always somewhere to dry out?)

color an issue? (if so let her pick them)

will they make her stockings run (for the girl on girl part!)

Vasque hands down makes the best boots IMHO. They are not the most technical looking, but with goretex and amazing construction, AND the best warranty, you can't go wrong.

the best boot in their line is the ZEPHYR II, sick design and amazing boot.

There is no snowshoe specific boot. Unless you want something too warm. Mid height, gore, and bomber.

The trips wont be all that cold. Your run-of-the-mill Cascade days. Likely 20 degrees or so and maybe no more than 4-8 miles in and same out. And yes, will have a place to dry out. Color no issue, purely functionality. Thanks mntlion.

And thanks for your rec DasB. I will look into your suggestion.
