    Killington was not great today. But better is yet to come. East fall should be open friday and hopefully canyon quad with it. They are blowing like crazy and hoping this even friday is all snow.

    Laser we did the poma a few times today. I freakin love that thing. I got air on one take off. I can feel Mini's stoke.

    Speaking off I just read an awesome book. Its about a kid who's dad was totally into surfing and skiing and pushed the kid hard to do those things to the extreme. They get in a plane crash(Its the main plot of the book not giving anything away) and the kid climbs down a 8000 foot mountain in a blizzard and survives. Great book especially for a dad with a little kid, you will totally relate. Its called Crazy for the Storm. Link below

    Thanks yall. My place is in Westfield, but it's on 242 between Jay and Mongomery (basically at the base of Big Jay), not on 100. Psyched to visit Brault's and Butterworks Farm. I found a place to buy raw milk but when I picked some up today the woman literally took my Ball jars, rinsed them off in hot water, and dipped them AND HER HAND straight into the tank to fill them. I wasn't too excited about it. I'm looking for a new source after I drink these bottles.

    SST- It's a seasonal house but I am thinking of moving to VT some day. There are so many things that line up with my lifestyle here.

    Jay tickets on liftopia for Friday for $13... Get em quick... I'm debating if I should ski at Jay or the River on Friday. Probably skiing the river sat and sun.

    K-mart on Sunday. Crowds are gonna be all fucking time but I'm fed up of planning to go skiing but not going. I'll be in a green Trew jacket riding OG Moment Tahoes.

    2 trails jay, vs 18 at the riv and maybe shorter lines. riv wins i think. unless it dumps at jay for ambiance. jay may get good snow over the weekend.

    have fun! i'm blacked out at riv and must wait till monday. back to the gym.

    anyone skiing K-mart sat or sunday...

    I don't feel tardy

    I don't know if I can handle K-mart crowds this weekend. Turns on ice are turns on ice. I think Blowkemo will be less crowded and it is only 20 mins away from my place at the best mountain in the world.

    Nothing better then growing you own! Pigs and chickens that is. For the 3rd year in a row my wife and I have been feeding the fam on backyard raised goodness. It doesn't much room or time really. Meat chickens come in a shoe box right to the post office ordered online. Welp Hatchery. They go 8 weeks and done! Pigs are a bit more, but still very worth it. The pigs can be hard to keep in, fence with a hot wire! Keep the pigs anywhere from 3-5 months. Between the 2 pigs and 20 chickens we raised over 400 lb. of the best meat you've ever tasted. I realize not many people can pull it off, but if you have the room it's def worth the time and money. We averaged about 2 bucks a pound including buying the animals feeding and butchering. Also much like putting up a pile of cord wood or anything you've produced you self it's a good feeling.

    When I went last Sunday, I just stood in front of the ticket window asking if someone wanted a half price lift ticket. The first person I asked who hadn't already bought a ticket jumped on it. The guy at the window was happy to split the cost on to two credit cards.

    makes a lot of sense, thanx. self sufficiency right there. been quite some time since i owned a good bit of land and a home where i grew some stuff and heated from the wood growing outside my door. i've def gotten lazy being a renter/landlord. my focus is less on me and more my tenants and their needs.

    thanx for the homegrown stoke!

    to niles, nice kill. was trail running on the cape this morning and jumped a very healthy looking 160+ lb 6 pointer. just around the corner i jumped his bitch. wonder how many i'll jump on my afternoon mtb ride. the cape is overrun with deer!

    It really is a cool thing to be even a little bit self sufficient. We went all wood a few years ago when heating oil was 5 bucks/gal. The price of the 700 gals to heat my small cape was the same as a new chimney liner, new indoor wood forced hot air set up and a 30 ton wood splitter for the tractor.
    Liner=$1000
    Wood stove=$1000
    splitter =$1300
    total= PRICELESS!

    Meat from the slaughterhouse is cheaper than the supermarket. I paid 2.10/lb hanging weight for my side of pork this year, plus .85/lb for the bacon and hams that I had smoked and cured. Still much cheaper than the grocery store. Beef is an even more substantial difference. For milk, I pay the same for raw as I do from the store- no diff to me and my supplier is happy because it's nearly quadruple what he gets selling it to the processor. Hippy food is cheap.

    And for that matter, my chickens cost me nothing. I buy food for them in the winter, but I sell a few dozen eggs a week- not much, but enough to make them pay for themselves plus kick in some beer money.

    oh i just mean sometime this winter.

    for me, i don't get too excited about the ifs and whens of storms anymore. as long as i have somethin to turn my skis on or in, i'm a happy cappy. out west, nh, me, vt, manmade, natural etc, it's all good.

    maybe a good stretch of surf next week. now THAT i'll be keeping an eye on.

    skiing is well worth it in maine. haven't made too many firm turns this year at the riv. this past sun/mon was soft and deep in all of the right places all day.

    can't wait to get back on it.

    have fun!

    fuck i'm starving. the ss 29er with 55 inch gear just kicked my ass!
