That tree is awesome.
I was able to catch the sunset out on sunset ledge last weekend, tough photography, but superb colors nonetheless:

Also, that's just a generally greatly enjoyable short hike. Walking on the bedrock though the evergreens is pretty sweet, as far as I'm concerned.

Beautiful pics Akokskis. Especially those Owls Head ones. So funny... we almost hiked Sunset Ledge Saturday. (That is not a super easy hike, TC...cool that you can do that!) We ended up going to MRG and I hiked, while my family rode, then walked down:

I still beat them to the mid station... it was gorgeous this weekend!Last edited by BigDaddy; 10-11-2010 at 12:13 PM.

Loving the pics dude, I didn't get as far north over the weekend but a few from the foothills of the catskills.
Newburgh, it's like a shit oasis.

Mt Beacon - 1200 vert of failed ski area facing due west right on the hudson. skiable, or not skiable? I've heard too many mixed stories. My guess is it's quite a schwack for poor skiing but has sick views. anyone done it?

Fall is big business for pick your own.. NY state apples are like tit monsters.

First Thomas Kincaid house:

Sunset picnic on the long island city waterfront:

Still got a ways till peak foliage in new york state but I might not get out, bummer......I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

^^^^^ yeah its short but sweet. I actually did mad to the midstation at the siptember fest. I can manage the uphill but the down hill is tough. I have to get on my ass alot. But this summer was shot and I needed to get some vert in before winter starts. Its really a mellow hike until you get to the rock slabs near the top, which I knew would be an issue when I was going there, but I managed and intricate ballet that was not without peril, have to be honest my heart was beating because I knew that leg would be useless for footing, luckily my arm strength compensated for it all. Would have been nice to see you BD, had i known you were up i would have called.

Great shots everyone.
Finally got a decent one of the ospreys around my house. They always seem to tease me & fly away as I get the camera.

More tree work @ the house too.

No pics but pretty solid ice build up on the top of Basin this weekend....so much so that it made hiking about on the summits tricky.
TOo bad it's 82 now in philly.

VERMONT LIFE
business in B-TOWN was what brought us up to the area. that business would only take an hour or so yesterday afternoon, so after the mtb fest at bear brook, we headed NW on sunday morning. lots o cars around. thank god for knowing the back roads for avoiding all of it. hunger was wicked busy full of all kinds of folks and furry creatures. nice to feel some cold air up top. if you saw a crazy energetic jack russell bouncing around, then you eventually saw us. nice day. the manny hike was much less busy and the clouds parted as we got above taft lodge. i've never been up top without snow and my skis. really nice ridge walk. came down a very grassy
nose dive.
if anyone has a dog and is looking for VERY styling on mountain accommodations, look no further than the stowe mountain lodge. very dog friendly, super nice rooms with deluxe cookies waiting for you.
mmmmmm, steux.

It's official. I ordered my Magic season pass yesterday. I now have a mountain to call home, and proud to join the other mags that make up the magic militia. Hope to shred the gnar with you guys all winter long.
A special shout out to TC, dowork, pearljam, and others for showing me the goods last winter, and convincing me that I need a pass there this winter.
