while everyone is putting their dicks on the table figured i might as well get mine on there.
DONT FUCKING POST MY REAL NAME.
why else would i have an alias? my name is NIHILES. not john. not lee. not sebastian. not matt. and even though i have been known to answer to sir bump-n-thump III or mc roustabout or captain backslap that doesnt mean you should call me that in public (unless im surrounded by chicks of course).
whew... feels good to get that off my chest, been carrying that burden for years!
now onto stuff that were all really here for: for the ten days of nothingness that spans across xmas and new years i want to go ski touring and am looking for suggestions.
something like this:
drive to wherever.
a good long slog in, like several hours (~4-6) up a valley floor to a spot with slopes on either side.
make camp.
spend the next 3 days or so yo-yoing the side slopes.
a day to break camp and slog out.
anyone got anything that they been eyeing but cant get beta on? point me in a direction and privately call me meriwether.
not looking for the sickest terrain as the sickness will be achieved in the overall experience. gettin my drift?"yeah, yeah. you buy playboy for the articles just like i watch brokeback mountain for the scenery... wait, that doesnt work."

Magic needs bodies, and its got badass terrain that people wouldn't believe unless they saw
Thus the reasons for the photos
Look, I haven't even come close to putting in anywhere NEAR the time that the Magic crew has thrown in over the past two summers. So I get why they're both proud and protective of what they've done. But I will say there is not a nicer crew of people to rip around with(except for Nihiles, [animal house]who's a well known homosexual[/animal house]

And as for Nihiles, you're looking for the ADK's man, TONS of lean-to's and endless adventures to be had(xmas might be too early though)For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Jesus... Please understand that we are trying to save Magic, and while I might not show you that shit on your first trip out here, spend enough time here and I will. This started off as an attempt to stoke people up to come here, become part of the extended magic family, and eventually learn all the dope secrets. Glad Rdennhs derailed the stoke train tho, that was as fun as it was productive.
Is this really that hard to comprehend? Either way, this is my last post for a while. Please refer to common sense for all other questions. I've had enough of explaining the painfully obvious today."If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise." -Robert Fritz

I was there last season for the big 3 foot storm. Fun place. If you want to encourage people to go there, be inclusive. If you're going to try and step up as the voice for Magic, don't get all ITG. So what if someone finds and steals your line. There are no friends on a powder day.

Being noninclusive was never my aim, and I've given may more than my share of tours to newbs to get them familiar with the place and a few woods runs. All I ever said was that you have to earn that tour, you don't just get it- simply because we didn't just "get" most of these secret lines, we made them through hard work and determination. Is it too much to ask to hang out for a while before you get to see the best stuff? I don't think so, and I don't think I deserved to be talked down to for trying to explain to Rdennhs in a funny way what BS meant. He took it wrong and PMd ne some obnoxious shit. That was bullshit.
Read between the lines, man. Never did I say that it was "mine"/guarded with attack dogs, etc. and yeah it's pretty frustrating to have people tell me how shit goes around here having never experienced it. They're spinning tales of doormen at the secret stashes in their minds, getting worked up over it, and identifying me as some kind of mountain miser. Not true, and I've had enough of it all. Hope this cleared things up, thanks and have a great day."If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise." -Robert Fritz

Last couple years I've made it a point to come to Magic. No, I haven't been at any of the volunteer days but I have certainly helped spread the word about this diamond in the rough called Magic Mountain to any of my friends that would listen. The last two pages of this thread are an embarassment.

I don't think DW was bitching about people stealing lines, its more that the lines need to be SHOWN, not told, and most of the time under pain of death and with a blindfold
Seriously folks, its the East Coast, there are VERY few "first descents" left unclaimed. Half of these "top secret" lines were probably getting slayed on skinny skis during the 70's and any given weekend there's going to be a pack of 20-30 ripping skiers/boarders all racing each other for the Gnar
But NOBODIES gonna beat me for first tracks this year
anyway, to get the stoke flowing again
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

no doubt. the pics are great and no one would ever know where that is (except me DW! ha!) it's all good.
i've never skied magic, but need to. it's hard when you have a pass to go elsewhere. i've been 'stuck' riding my home hill cannon, and hitting the jay twofers for several yrs now. i'm also due east from magic...as far as you can go...no easy way to get there...it's a 3hr cruise.

man, she's a hottie^^^^^
ride er hard bd!
this whole gardening, stash, secret, share, show, tell, post, stoke thing can be tricky biz.
for anyone that puts in a bunch of time/effort to clear, cut, maintain, and create new lines, there is a ton of pride and joy that goes along with it. it's tough sometimes to do it and not share the stoke cuz it can get all bottled up inside and it feels so good to share it with others, even tho deep down inside you want it to stay somewhat secret.
from what i've seen, magic could use a bunch more skier visits to keep the place open and healthy.
i've never been to magic, but hearing about it and seeing pics and stoke has me intrigued. i would NEVER expect folks to show me the goods even if they liked me, guess i don't have to worry about that
the regular terrain on the map looks plenty fun to me for my own amusement. honestly i'd rather try and find stuff myself, and if i can't then good on ya for hiding it well.
folks will always find stashes and treat as if it was their own. sometimes finding yer stash all joey pivot skidded out is a real buzzkill, but that's when it's better to think, well, it'll snow again soon and all will be clean again.
i am rambling i know. i'm in post mid-week, non weekend surf euphoria right now. this morning was too much fun! rest of the day is shot. meant to be.
change of season coming

This thread feels/reads like a Monday at the zoo and the tigers are 3 days past due for feeding time .

Hey, did anyone catch the Pats game?
Sad to admit but I fell asleep in a puddle of drool before kick-off! Too much house work, rock-climbing and mountain biking this weekend. Sad but true.
Went to Pawtuckaway and got my little one on top rope for the first time at six years old! A little getting use to the whole idea of trusting the rope and lowering but she did great and wants to do it again soon.
Someone will remember to flip the light switch soon . . . hang in there boys and don't eat your young in the meantime!
