agree with Rob. It'd be kind of a weird thing to lie about!

one thing that has me puzzled though (and i'll take rob's word for it since he knows more about cannon cliff than I) is i always thought henderson buttress was in huntington ravine... i'm assuming this is just a plurality of henderson buttresses, right?

Close, Greg, that's Henderson Ridge...A very pretty thing in it's own right. Soloed a bunch of that a couple years back..detoured where it was wet.
BTW: Henderson climbed in a Tweed jacket, Shirt with Necktie, nice wool Slacks and smart stockings. Even his hat was a trim, smart thing, suitable to wear to the office, theater, etc. His only concession was modified soles on otherwise conventional shoes, sturdily made to be sure, but fashionable.
The gent climbed just about every NE crag folks climb on today and quite a few that hardly anyone bothers with now.A day of skiing is so much better than.....not skiing!

Got out for two hours of nice soft turns at Wachusett this AM before work. Skied my new Bent Chetlers
and tested out my surgery wounds. Still a little sore but skied hard the whole time.
Anyone thinking of any BC adventures this Saturday? Just don't feel like heading to Steaux for more lift-served non-powder. I'm up for suggestions.

Stoked to be back in Vermont for a month and glad I made it back without any flight issues. Squeeked in Late Monday eve to JFK from Vegas on Jetblue, then to Burlington. Playing catch up at work and hoping to find some goods over the weekend...
Speaking of giant snowmen, took these about a week ago.

You might not be screwd till spring. Def get rid of the ice, check the leaders too, they might be frozen as well. The window doesnt look like its leaking it looks like the ceiling. Check the insulation like the others said, heat from the rooms could have caused some melted snow. You might have a draft in your attic and a pipe could have froze. With heat tape for your roof, don't buy the easy heat. That is nothing but garbage, it melts its own jacket and causes shorts. Go with the Raychem brand system. Its a little pricey but it works.
All this construction talk.... I am willing to pimp out my skills as an Electrician to any one that needs some work done. A place to crash and a burger and a beer seem to be a fair trade good conditions help too. Any questions too feel free to ask.

NmbrdDays, I'm possibly looking for an electrician for some projects at the course this season. I've totally got beer, food and a place to crash if you're interested
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Nice Photo!
Good question..here you go:

I can almost see a whole line, but I admit to not being able to drop so many tall steps to do such a line.
I'm guessing they used the skier's-right ramp-like features to ski off the main buttress about half elevation and worked their way towards the next buttress, using the ramps.
More power to them if they did that! Way too stout for this Mother's Son!Last edited by robrox; 01-27-2011 at 05:41 PM.

Took one of my sons to Bradford this a.m. after about 10" overnight and we did probably 15 laps through what woods they have - some decent little shots actually and absolutely zero competition. The new snow had a little wind affect so you tended to ride high, but it wasn't so sticky as to make turning difficult.
Did my part supporting the local non-NELSAP place, back to local earned turns tomorrow.

Anyone in the North Jersey/NYC area want to carpool up to Magic. I can drive. Going up solo, and paying for gas is still cheaper than skiing locally, but would love to have someone to split it with. PM me if you're interested.

Laser, everyone's advice thus far is spot on; had this happen 2 seasons ago, and what I did to take care of it was this: buy some pantyhose, cut the legs off, and stuff them with rock salt (don't just toss rock salt up on your roof) and tie the end closed, like a sausage.
At the main dam spots, toss the stuffed hose up on the roof/gutter so that at least 6-8" of the hose hangs over the edge of the roof. This will melt the ice, and create a nice channel/overflow for the water to follow off your roof, without messing with that harsh salt/melt stuff on your roof or gutters.
This should get you through, works well, and is cheap (just looks reaaaaallly strange...)
But the need to address the main cause of the issue still exists.

Totally. Let me know when and what you need done. Just a matter of bringing the right tools up.
I also talked to a buddy who is a carpenter. He said you could have a possible Ice Damn. Where the ice gets under your shingles and freezes the plywood and all base layers causing leaks and damage.
