Anyone have floor space for my aero mattress near Magic on Friday night?
I haven't started looking for a hotel, but I'm guessing w/ the holiday weekend everything will either be booked or a 2 night min. stay. Going to look in the AM but figured I'd but the feeler out here before it's too late.Going where the wind don't blow so strange
Maybe on some high cold mountain range

Nukefest at Cannon
Got the phone call at 7:45 saying I didn't have to go into work so I jumped in the car around 9:00 and made my way north to Cannon. It was nuking hard from Exit 20 all the way up and into the notch. Got there around 10:30 and went for a summit lap then made my way down to the Zoomer chair where I spent most of the day cranking out pow laps. I did one more summit lap after lunch but they were making snow on everything off of the express and the summit chair so I went back to the zoomer where the visability was better. It was still NUKING when rode up the chair for my last run around 3PM. They are reporting 16" as of 5PM - I believe it.
Getting some highway pow on I-93
Nuking at the Summit
Radicts are hungry - must feed them pow
Nuking at 3PM - top of Zoomer

DaveVT I agree, the T-bolt is an absolute classic and can easily hold it's own against trails like the Bruce and Sherbie when the conditions are right. You're right about some "stuff" across the street being worth the effort. Laser has put some pics up over the years of the goods to be had along the Taconic Crest.

today, the day.
great day to ski pow in nh.
dave and i met up with lynchdogger at loon this morning. not crowded, especially up on north peak where we'd make most of our turns today. most folks wanted to ride the gondi due to the puke-age.
1st untracked runs were unreal with many refill crossloaded laps on the flumes and upper/lower boss. east basin was entertaining as well.
got my fill of lift riding for some time. up early to break trail up george. gonna be a good workout i'm sure.
thanx a bunch mark, nice skiing with you again!
have fun y'all, gonna be great everywhere!

Heading to Sunapee tomorrow. Have to back in Boston by 2pm without fail, so Magic is just a bit too far. Anyone have any suggestions for Sunapee? Obvious ungroomed options? PM-able lines? Orange shell, khaki pants, green helmet, black Malolo if anyone's there.

Nice to see VT padding up nicely...just in time for my arrival Friday!.

Awesome pix of MBSB too, that was deep!
I only wish I could send you guys the god-damned 12-20 inches CT received because we don't freaking want it

Edit: Actually you can have the snow only as long as we can keep our snow day/delayed openings!--we luv those!"I call it reveling in natures finest element. Water in its pristine form. Straight from the heavens. We bathe in it, rejoicing in the fullest." --BZ

groomville
sunapee will mow everything down flat unfortunately. some fake bump crops will be there. woods will be way too thin. pm-able/off map lines are unreal as locals keep themselves busy in summer months. need a base tho. not enough yet.
should be nice surfaces after grooming.

THAT IS AWESOME!
Just wanted to also be a Safety Sandra and tell everyone to be careful out there. We've all had a good laugh over the three foot in the woods rule the past few years, but I really think bad luck and injuries are catching up. So take care, and rip it up on grassy slopes until we maybe get another storm. Even on some crappy on the map woods, the mountains just don't take care of the stuff enough to charge even though I'm sure they'll all drop ropes.
Also, I'd like to trade my karhu teams. They're the same ski as the prophet 100 with a different top sheet. I'd happily go narrower and shorter, bro 179, rossi s3, newer k2's. can throw some cash in if necessary, but these things outside of a few scratches in their 25 days are pretty sweet, and have one mount for small dukes.
I'd prefer to trade to get rid of some quiver overlap. checkit:

Just returned from some night skiing at Pat's Peak. They probably picked up 16" or so. Lots o' good snow still to be had on the sides of trails, but a few rocks lurking in the more wind-affected areas. Wind was starting to nuke when I left, should redistribute what came down pretty well for tomorrow. Not a bad consolation prize for having to work during the day.

Sunapee was pretty good today. With all the snow falling in the early morning and through the day, they didn't get the chance to groom anything.
The woods are still pretty thin. No base under the new snow means lots of rocks and wood. I got taken out a few times today. I don't think any of the glades are technically open. The bumps on Flying Goose and Liftline should be great. As ice said, everything else will be groomed, but surface should ski nice.

WOHOO!! Mad river tomorrow!
Wow, Thursday is going to be SICK!!! We picked up a solid foot of fluffy new snow today (and it's still snowing) and we'll be opening up tomorrow morning with 100% of our main mountain terrain open with skiing off the Single and the Sunnyside Double. This foot of fresh comes on the heels of the 18" of fluff that fell here on Sunday night setting us up perfectly for the big MLK holiday weekend. The storm today was once again remarkably light and fluffy with a lot of blowing snow. All of our loyal skiers have been incredibly patient so far this season and FINALLY it is time to come out and ski the legend that is Mad River Glen with powder and packed powder surfaces. The lifts will spin from 9 AM to 3:45 PM.
See you out there. White Moment Ruby's Brown jacket, say what up!

Holy crap Franny got some! Nice pics all around. GP smashing it as usual, that one is 2012 calendar material. And the Snowbowl is looking redonk.
Magic is going to be straight mammaries tomorrow. I would love to be there but it's actually snowing pretty good here so I'm going to stick around. 7" on my deck and still snowing. The NEK forecast be lookin pretty! This snow is ideal, dense, super fine and should make for a nice ride.

Had a late day skin up the Dartmouth Skiway this afternoon and the skiing was choice. Things definitely starting to get effected by the winds, which were definitely picking up as the evening was coming along, but still good up there.
Did almost get stopped from heading uphill at 435ish (really, the sweep is at 435?!), but after a short chat he let me continue... So if you're ever planning on skinning up that way, go though the woods (AT), not up trails.
Now I have no idea what to do for tomorrow morning. Was considering magic but the 9am start is pushing late for me as I've gotta be back in Hanover around 1...
I might just end up at stowe... Any thoughts?

Are there any Stowe/Northern Vermont maggots that will be making there way down to central or southern vermont over the weekend?
I'm looking to purchase some snow tires off craigslist, but they are up in snow, and they're not that great of a deal if I have to drive all the way up there from Magic.
Anyway, if you could help me out, I'd be happy to throw some cash/beer your way if you're already making that trip.
Thanks!Magic Mountain Freeride Team...bringing your grom's game to the next level.

Dug my car out of the snow earlier and it was definitely NOT blower in Boston. Excellent base building snow if it stayed that way north.
So pissed I have this job interview tomorrow and can't get out to ski. It should be awesome! Was considering Wachusett in the morning but probably should play it safe and stay home.
Will probably try to get out Friday. Would love to make it to Magic, but I may have a deal at Sunapee, and hey, if it's close and cheap I might have to head there, especially after everyone else tears up Magic tomorrow.

I drove over to Blue Hills in MA this morning and booted up for a run... I had never been there before. It was too flat to carry enough speed to make turns on the way down in the super heavy wet snow.
On a bright note I found out this my obsetheds float exceptionally well... I can't wait to get them in some steeper terrain with fresh snow.
