Congrats ISBD! And don't knock the station wagon. I've seen it, and can attest that it looks cosy and most importantly, portable. Though.... it may be a bit small for a large group of folks. Good luck on the hunt.

They are intermediate skiers, and many of the guests will be non skiers. Most guests will be traveling from NYC so they are looking for a place in the Catskills or maybe southern VT. I think they'd prefer something fairly upscale (unlike the back of the '94 Volvo wagon I often sleep in).

Any recommendations? Clues as to where I might start looking? Thanks

Edit: Looks I like I should have made the 10 hour round trip drive to ski today, even though I was up til 1am and got engaged (yes, to be married) last night.
    Congrats dude,

I had a friend stay here and hit Plattekill. Super girl friendly with the decor / amenities:

Hero carving was definitely the name of the game today. GF and I were there until about 12:30 -1:00. I was looking for you but I wouldn't have been able to see you anyway...visability was at ZERO at higher elevations. I was definitely using the force to get around today.

We hit Burke yesterday, upper/lower Willoughby was skiing well but the rest of the mountain was in rough shape. Bottom line is we need some love from Ullr in the NEK!!

Ha go figure. Dude the money spot is off Bumps to the left. there is an easy mtn bike trail with some nice lil drops and a good spot to roast and chill. I usually dig a pit to chill over there.

^ thanks, will look for that spot some time, though we later hung at the slopeside condo

the place has always been supermellow...i think that one troller was just compensating for her lack of any discernible skiing skill.

did you get out there today?

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, a full-fledged significant winter storm will be powering up and taking aim on the I-95 corridor.

The snow begins to fly Tuesday night and continues through Wednesday night as the storm drives into New England.

Yes, we are talking about significant snow from Philadelphia to New York to Hartford to Boston to Portland with 6 inches or more of snow likely. As the storm intensifies, winds will be on the increase.

A repeat of December 26 is possible as there is a chance that blizzard watches and warnings could be posted including New York City.

This is a quick-hitting storm but will carry with it disruptive impacts. Winter storm watches will be posted by the National Weather Service within the next 12 to 24 hours.

I have been skiing there for about 10 years now. I used to hike it mid week when I went to Delhi. There NEVER is a lift line, its not your typical " Hunter " type crowd. I love that place.

Yeah I made it out today. Met up with ConHelado, was nice to meet you and ride with you today. Welcome to the EC. It was a good day out, snowed all day. Just some flurries but made for a nice day. Woods werent too bad for no base. The condo sounds better than my pit.

The patrol never breaks my balls for hitting the bike trails. I just get shit for not wearing a helmet....

    Just a reminder

Careful about leaving shit in your car. Yesterday afternoon the GF and I went out for a little skin on the Skookumbrook Trail at the North end of Franconia Notch to test out her new touring setup and someone broke into my car and stole my cash. Only took the cash, left 3 pairs of skis, boots, credit cards, crampons, etc. I am thinking that we may have scared them off because we came back pretty quickly (so little snow that the trail was barely skinnable), and as we were coming back a blue Astrovan left the parking lot. Not sure if that was the culprit or not, but if you see a blue Astrovan checking out trailheads...

Sounds a lot like my flight back home is going to be cancelled. I think we're scheduled to land around 7 AM Weds in Albany.

    Congrats Mr. Ben!!

Bout 8" here now. I just skied down my road and it is retarded light. Like, doesn't even affect turning ability... walking through it you almost can't tell you're walking in snow.
