    down for the day...

relic term leftover from my youth in Jersey... shore folks refer to the "obnoxious" (money wielding) people who crowd the shore on saturdays as DFDs...

also their stonegrinder is the best in VT. hands down.

as far as why i brought up...

and that's exactly what i heard from the person i sent in there... got the vibe that it was a place for bros, and that they didn't want a one time Stowe visitor's money. if that model works for them that's great; they don't have to put up with all those annoying DFDs with money, and who are willing to spend a little extra to guarantee good service... those people are so obnoxious! </sarcasm>

...and that's why i'll forward people to skiershop if they need work done in stowe and are willing to pay for the peace of mind that they don't have to use the right handshake to make sure it gets done right...
Sounds like *someone* doesn't know the handshake.....my point being you say all the shops you've been to in Stowe are expensive...but go to the ones with high overhead...Your point about equipment may be well founded...I don't have a clue about that aspect of tuning.

My father finally got his new pair of Seneca Boards. They were running a test program to iron out the kinks in their ski production, and well, hopefully they managed to iron them all out... it took nearly a year and a half to get the skis, but they're custom and pretty sweet.
Still not too sure what he's looking to get them mounted up with, but just lookin for some options as I haven't had a mount done in the area.

no point in being coy dave: i definitely don't know the handshakes in stowe... i'll be the first to admit. i don't give a rat's ass either since i don't need any of their services. but for people who do, it's good to know where to forward them where they can get a mount without having to do some creepy finger tickle

as to the meat of this back and forth, we seem to be speaking past each other.

my point: everything in stowe is expensive, so don't go anywhere there if you care about $$... but if you don't mind spending some $$ to ensure quality service, skiershop will get it done. no bro-shakes.

Adrian FWIW, Tim @ Skiershop pulled and re-mounted my ARGs last year for $25. He did it while I waited, and without a jig (skis were too wide or something)... I tipped him $10 and was on my way in less than 45 min.

What would most shops charge for that job? Outside the Stowe area?

25$ is actually about right anywhere... it'd be hard for folks to make $$ for less.

Race stock sports in Waterbury. I mostly go there and have sent people there for boot fitting, but also bought and had sticks mounted. PJ is the man.

    Anyone else?

I should be there. Still gotta figure out some other plans, but my goal is to make it out for a sorta early start Saturday morning.

^^^ I've always been impressed with the tune quality from Norther Ski Works in Ludlow, although I've never tried any of the other shops in the area.

Also, as I recall Buttah works at a shop in Ludlow as well, so I'm sure he could give you a better low down than myself.

Yep, all 17-40. Some crop but not too much. I guess with 1.6 crop body and enough mega pixels it has some reach.

Anyone headed out for a tour late today or tomorrow and willing to drag my pokey ass along? I'm crashing in Burlington and trying to harvest just a few more runs before I head South to do research for 6 months where I will see snow and ice, but I can't bring my skis.

Yeah I just got the not so good news from Magic's last Facebook post. Hoping for cold temps and maybe a little snow this week.

I've been going to the Boot Pro for a while, but Totem Pole is better for wide ski mounts, etc and has a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better selection for hardgoods, and general ski stuff. Their tuning supplies section is BURLY. A gear slut such as myself could do some serious damage in there.

That and I'm pretty sure Buttah knows all the bro-brah handshakes. Def cool management over there, they live what they sell for sure.

Public thanks to G and K_C for hosting the traveling circus that is Ms. Hutz and I. Hopefully we weren't too much trouble. I was scared that we wouldn't be welcomed back when we went to the burrito joint....
