I totally agree. As someone who didn't read any of these books till after this series started and I'm now on the fourth book of the series. The backstory/intentions of the characters is so much better in the book. The TV show is pretty true to the book but there are definitely differences in things like Arya's arrival at Harrenhal and the relationship between Jon Snow and the Lord Commander of the Black Watch. I'm interested how things are going to go now that the carnage is about to really begin.

Not sure if I hate Theon more than Joffrey now or not. And the Hound, how I adore thee. Just started reading the first book, but after last night's episode I'm going to say the Hound kills Joffrey, Ariyeah and Robert's bastard Gendry get it on, Rob Stark fathers a bastard with that little captive hottie tending to the wounded....wishful thinking, havn't been this excited about a series since Deadwood. Bad news - it hasn't been written yet ....... and probably won't be; I'd prefer the dragons going talon-to-toe with the frozen zombies of the north, followed by Cercei as an after dinner mint
