Awesome product though, top notch finish and design. A pow ski that can rip most anything, and acts like RR but with just the right amount of sidecut and can carve. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuurly

After reading and re-reading this thread and looking at my current quiver and chatting with Soul Ski & Bike I think the 186cm is going to be best for me.

Yep. Mine are all shiny and new, sitting in the garage in Tahoe. I think the skis are even considering a hike in the afternoon.

I went 193 EHP (Pilsner graphic) to 186 Renegade and have not missed the length, the Rens are stable at speed regardless of snow. Maybe if you are a comp skier doing 50mph in chop it could be an issue, but I feel like I gave up nothing and gained a lot with the switch, especially in the trees.

I use both 186 Rens and 186 EHPs. The Rens are more stable as a result of tracking better on edge, whereas the EHPs are more vague feeling. I feel much more confident on the Rens in all but deep pow, where it's a tie (EHPs are awesome in pow). The Rens have both more stability at speed and more control in tight spots than the EHPs. In chop, the Rens hold their line whereas the EHPs require more steering to go where you want to go.

In untracked pow, the EHPs are more playful than the Renegades due to their softer flex. In untracked pow at lower speeds, the EHPs are more fun and less work. This advantage quickly disappears if the pow becomes tracked or wind-affected, where the versatility of the Renegades kicks in.

I'd also say that the EHPs are more forgiving for someone less proficient at carving since they don't lock into the edge as much as the Renegades. However, for a good skier, you'll find you can do a lot more with the Renegade's responsiveness, but you must stay on top of them to drive them (I guess what I'm trying to say is that the EHPs permit lazy skiing more than the Rens will).

To summarize, Rens feel like a much stiffer ski with more sidecut and rocker, whereas the EHPs feel softer, straighter and washier.

Awesome D(C) that is what I was hoping to hear! Probably plan on keeping the EHPs for now. But if the RENs are going to be how I think they are I may just run 112RP and Rens.

I am running my 186 Rens with plum guides, I was worried at first with the reverse camber on the skin track. Turns out they are awesome, not just ok, but they rocked the skin track there was a fair bit of ice the last time I took them out. As for weight, they aren't bad. Though I am coming off of 190 Czars with dukes.

Just popped the cherry on the 186's. Really excited to get to know these better.

First thougts: Loose, stable, and crazy nimble. unusual combo really. I typically like a 19x charger type ski with tip rocker and flat mid/tail----->eg. Bro 192's, and Praxis BM 120's. True to the talk, these shorties really give up nothing on stability and add a lot of pivot/nimblenessess. It looks like I was correct in assuming(and hoping) these would have all the CRJ characteristics I liked and cure all the ones I didn't. My biggest challenge with the typical 5 point type sticks is they don't charge through the skied pow and crud. The RENS fucking killed it in those conditions! Five stars for the day and I am off to cook them a ribeye for job well done.
