Fuck, I have been wanting to see deeper in a stoke filled environment. Guess i'll have to watch on DVD. Thought I would have to pull out of work early to get to the ski swap after looking at the Canmore date, glad the Banff one is later.

"He is god of snow; the one called Ullr. Son of Sif, step son of Thor. He is so fierce a bowman and ski-runner that none may contend! He is quite beautiful to look upon and has all the characteristics of a warrior. It is wise to invoke the name of Ullr in duels!"

Anyone know if Deeper tickets are available at the door or just via Rude Boys? If it's the latter, anyone feel like snagging an extra?
edit - for the show at the Dancing Sasquatch in Banff....Life is simple. Go Explore.

heads up for those shopping big-ticket items from bc.com now that the $ is just about at parity again:
bc.com asks for $110 extra to ship a $299 skis to canada via standard ups (arrives two weeks later, generally). turns out for $54 one can ship the same thing using 3-day shipping, then pay $39 COD when the truck arrives door two days later.
tell me we aren't getting screwed on standard shipping

Yeah.... UPS & Fedex Ground require a 3rd party customs broker at costs that are usually too high to be worthwhile.
UPS Expedited and Fedex Express have brokerage built into the price, you just pay any tax due either COD for UPS or invoice for Fedex. (UPS will hit you an extra fee if the have to cough up money for you though)
USPS/Canada post.... higher shipping cost for larger items, but you are only hit tax+$8 on delivery.

USPS isn't bad, I only got hit with GST when I ordered my dukes from EVO last year. I had skis shipped via fedex express and I only paid GST too, so maybe it depends on the sender and how they label the box?
19 and sunny in cowtown today, doesn't bode well for SSV Nov 11 opening i guess

Random posting just because it smelled like winter was coming when I walked to work in the dark this morning:
It is finally summer here in calgary.
I am actually ok with that because we always get a last breath of warm air before Father Winter walks into the room. It will cool down and snow in no time. It will probably go from +15 and sunny to -5 and snowy in the space of 24 hours, just like it does most years.
The warm fall is a part of the ceremony, a single step in the whole dance of the approcahing season:
-getting the first 2 issues of Powder and the first issue of SBC Skier
-going to freshtival (or whatever the equivalent is in your town)
-getting new batteries for the beacon
-practicing with said beacon in the park with beers and a bunch of friends (hiding the beacon up in the tree for newbs)
-doing leg weights in the gym even though you know the first day on skis will fry the thighs.
-Enjoying the last afternoon of pints on a warm Ship and Anchor patio before moving indoors because the evenings get too cold.
I am looking forward to skiing again. To seeing friends in the lift line or parking lot that I have not talked to in almost 6 months. Trying my new boards out in conditions that are not appropriate (do I really NEED my 118 waisted skis for wiwaxy? Fuck yes, I say, totally necessary). Eating Chili-cheese-fries.
It's going to be a great season. Even if the snow sucks - which it will at times. Even if tragedies happen - and they will. Even if life gets in the way - which it does. It's going to be a great season.
Enjoy the thanksgiving weekend everybody.Recently overheard: "Hey Ralph, what were you drinking that time that you set your face on fire?"
