now I'm the gimp
I'm used to telling folks what to do when injured and not being injured myself too much.
Well today I rammed a phillips head screw bit into my left thumb and ended up in the ER with a deep puncture. It may have actually gone all the way though from lateral to medial but not quite sure.
I was framing and leveling skids for a shed foundation and I needed to remove some screws on the bottom of one of the joints. I had the 4x4s propped up and as I was backing the 1st screw out when everything fell off the support and my thumb got between the 4x4 and the screw bit. And of course as I pulled away this ripped some stuff up. OUCH
No stitches due to the deep puncture. frequent dessing changes, heavy duty anti-biotics, some pain meds and a tetanus booster to treat. Yeah for me.
This is going to put my shed construction plans on hold for a week or so. But I could have been worse I guess.
Sorry no pics of the carnage but it was fairly gruesome with some meat and blood vessels hanging out...

I have some good advice for this.
Sit on the couch all weekend and watch football. Beers encouraged.

my thumb is healing nicely but I may have killed the nerve in the lateral half of the tip of my thumb. Very numb. I can't sense temperature nor can I discriminate between just pressure and sharp sensations. Bummed about that but it could have been worse. Maybe in a few months some of the sensation might come back. I've been getting some sparky/electrical sensations in the past day or so.

now 11 days out and I'm off anti-biotics. Watching it closely for signs of infection. Motion is improving but still numb. Achy when I use it a lot.
