From the Crystal site: "The forecast is calling for some serious snowfall over the next several days and that could lead to a possible opening later this week/weekend – stay tuned!"

    Said forecast:
Today: Snow. Temperature falling to around 21 by 5pm. Breezy, with a south southwest wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 13 to 19 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 19. Southwest wind between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches possible.

    Fuck yea.

Wind pissed rain with occasional thickening in PDX today. Hard to tell if the sun ever came up. What a beautiful day.

Any suggestion on Avy training course in the PDX area? I'm nearly done with the AT rig, now need to learn about safety (meetings).

I'm doing one with Three Sisters Backcountry huts in December. Though, I think they're all booked up for the December class

Early days, I'd not worry about it too much. If this was happening with an 80+ inch base, that would be a different story!

To feel better, get out in the water on a surf board!

20" in 24hrs at Crystal with more on the way. Sound like they really wanna open this weekend:

The goods have arrived! A very healthy layer of snow blankets the slopes - and there's still more on the way. We are evaluating the mountain this morning and will have an update later this morning or early-afternoon, in other words get your gear packed (just in case)!

God damn I'm so pumped right now.

Crystal just looooves to snake Baker and be the first one open. How many years have they done this? Open some low angle groomers and take the claim while Baker opens a day or two later with near full operation.

No, it's a really really good thing. When Baker opens first, the douchbaggery is insane. Having Whistler and Crystal open first will keep the line for first chair down to under 90 minutes.
