Alpy was marginal yesterday. Some decent turns to be had and the snow is holding up well but with limited terrain open. They've got a nice base to build on but the freezing rain forecast for this week looks a little ominous...

Ok. I'm flying in from the EC to Seattle for my first trip to the PNW. Plan on making turns friday. Would love to hit the BC, but I'm going with my brother who is a good rider but doesnt have BC skillz or gear. Any local advice on what my best lift ticket for friday might be? Right now I'm thinking I'd like to try Crystal or Baker, but not sure which one will be set up best for snow on friday.

Definitely crystal. Everyone there will want to see your east coast bc skillz as you drop in on the king after a super heavy, wet warm dump ontop of surface hoar and facets

    NWS discussion for western WA:
PERIODS OF RAIN WILL CONTINUE . . . . THE FREEZING LEVEL IS ABOVE 7000 FEET IN THE MOUNTAINS...EXCEPT TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING IN THE PASSES WHERE EASTERLY FLOW IS FUNNELING COLD AIR. THERE COULD BE A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION IN THE PASSES UNTIL WEDNESDAY...INCLUDING SOME FREEZING RAIN...BUT THE VOLCANOES AND OTHER MOUNTAINS WILL JUST HAVE RAIN UP TO 6000 FEET OR SO.
Hmmmmm. Well, let's see how big the pass effect is. Looks like we may be track skiing this weekend.

Where are you headed Friday morning? I am trying to find a ride to skibowl or possibly just to Rhody that morning. I would of course help out with gas money if you were so kind.

Baker is going to get slammed Thrusday night. Hopefully 99% of WWU students will all have finals on Friday, and you can ski untracked refills all day long....

I skied for a couple of hours at Snoqualmie Pass this morning. It was snowing most of the morning with no rain, sleet or sludge even at 3500'. I was surprised. The next couple of days should be great!

Unfortunately my mountain rig consists of a G35 with 2 sets of ski's jammed through the the trunk passthhrough. Doesn't leave much room for anyone more than my weenie dog. Sorry bro.
