I was a ski bum - I made about $3 panhandling before the skim.

I tossed my sign on the run-in because it was flapping in the breeze. I made it across with my can (mostly) full of change. I think I lost a couple of quarters on the way across.

Thanks, Turx. I think that's a great plan, particularly since I now won't be in SF tomorrow.

Splat, there will definitely be a comp for you regardless.

Almost had a season ending injury on what were perhaps my last turns of the season. Somehow, making a basic left turn into a (very very full) chute resulting in my tips crossing, me sliding out of control toward a small tree, hitting said tree with my right boot and ski, losing said ski, falling head first and sliding toward a ten foot drop with a steep bony take off, before somehow self arresting.

It took a moment to get my remaining ski under me to avoid going left off the rock or right down through tree tops. Then hiking over to my other ski that was lodged above said trees in rotten snow. Good times.

The tour was good even if it was grey flat bird for most of the skiing.

    Schralph, Powdork has some skis.

Good lord ottime, glad to hear it's all okay. You should try to get one more day in to end the season on a high note ... Probably time to cool the spicy though after a close call like that huh?

Thanks for the skis, I will call Powdork when I'm in the area.

i think he would have been ok, cuz the rocks were really colorful (his recco chip would have saved him anyway)((also keep in mind if he can't go friday, that makes it season ending)).

Turx, The Dad, I'm very stoked to ski with you all again after one long-ass downtime. A mag has asked me if he can demo the 179 Lhasas during his lunch break starting at 12:30, so they're spoken for during a short period of the day.

telemike - that is one of the coolest kid ski pics ever. You tell Owen I would have cried, too, if I had to take a dunk in that water.

Anybody headed to the wood tomorrow? Weather forecast seems to say I jump in the car in the next couple hours to beat the storm. Is it really gonna snow enough? Sky is blue in Mountain View.

    I've already got it prepared.

Tangentially related: Red Bull Schlittentag is this Saturday. Anyone interested in causing a ruckus on snowlerblades, bring snowlerblades.

The temp has been dropping quickly since I got here an hour ago. You can feel it in the air.
Bella is so glad to be back in the snow.

What's going on with that giant halfpipe at Squaw? I heard someone in the Funi say there's going to be a Red Bull competition but I can't find anything on the internet about it.

Dude, glad you're okay. Shit happens when you're least expecting it. I dislocated my shoulder skiing shortly after the boy was born. Wifey wasn't happy I couldn't change diapers. Good luck pops.

KW website reporting 10-12" of snow and it looks on the webcam like it's coming down nicely. That's definitely enough to fill in the runnels!

I also got word from Guest Services that Kirkwood backside is shutting down after this weekend. That information is really freaking hard to find out from their website. I can't remember how access works once the backside is closed ... hoping to spend a day tooling around 4th of July lake the weekend of 4/16-17.

How big is that ^^^^^ I know nothing of Kirkwood really, but that looks ridiculously huge. Like 75 feet? More/less? Wow is all I can say!
