Any snake collectors on here?
I haven't put any pictures up in a while so I thought I'd share two I took yesterday. These are Reticulated pythons if you are snake challenged. They grow to be about 20 feet long, some of the largest in the world, but when they are babies they are super fun to play with. Actually one is a super dwarf so subsequently will only reach a meager length of 10 or so feet.

Only able to see your second shot. Pretty cool. I'd like to see some really close ones of that yelloy guy.
My wife used to take care of a bunch of snakes and I keep thinking it would have been cool to get shots of them.

Gorgeous snakes. Used to have a ball python until a former roommate let it escape. Cool as shit pet to have. Wasn't quite ready to set up shop enough to handle anything like a reticulated python.

good timing for this thread, I had snake for dinner tonight. Not into weird food but some things you gotta try if its on the table. Not sure what the point of it was, I felt like a seagul trying to eating the plastic rings from a 6-pack.
Nice colors on the pics. Yellow one looks interesting.

Genetics. People are creeped out by all cylindrical reptiles because back in the day, those that were creeped out by cylindrical reptiles didn't get bit by the poisonous ones and lived longer to reproduce.
I admit it, I am creeped the fuck out by all snakes. I don't like being near them and could never have one for a pet. I jump 10 feet at the sight of a garter snake. This fact really bothers me, I do understand that most snakes are harmless, can make great pets etc, but no matter how hard I try to rationalize things, I am still freaked out by snakes. I try to use logic, not emotion to control every aspect of my life, but I cannot, no matter how hard I try, beat my aversion to snakes. If you can't tell, this frustrates me greatly, not for any desire to chill with snakes, nor because it really interferes with my life at all, but just because it's so damn illogical.
Anywho, cool shots and they look like they are great pets for you. Enjoy and make sure to give them a good home.
Did this happen somewhere in CNY? Did they ever find it?

Yep happened in LaFayette... nope never found it. Worried you're gonna stumble across it? I kid I kid. I'm sure it's dead by now... can't imagine it could have survived the past few winters. But even if he did survive... he was one of the friendliest animals I've ever come across.

I have the exact thoughts...
How was it one of the friendliest animals you've ever come across? Would it play with you? cuddle? How is a snake "friendly"??
I really don't know anything about snakes. I am just terrified of them, for no particular reason. They are fascinating thoughGo Big or Go Home

they've got some personality(limited) believe it or not. actually loved to cuddle... i'm sure it's just for the warmth but whatever. the snake just seemed to like chilling with people.

I actually think the snakes that are causing a problem there are burmese pythons. Generally reticulated pythons are bought by serious collectors only. My friend, who is in the pictures, got these snakes for a big discount because he worked for a breeder but he's holding about $2,000 of snakes in his hand regradless. Actually I'm fairly positive that it is the burmese who are the problem. You will commonly see pet stores with enormous, albino burmese up front to attract attention. They are generally much lazier, though they do grow to huge sizes and apparently flourish in the glades.
