You can definitely hear it wobbling on a couple of the runs, but yeah, it got the job done.

    nice fish.
Funny how gear gets lighter and lighter, when I first started we used Harpoon, Handline, or rod and reel with a !0/0 or 12/0 Senator for tuna, shark and swordfish. When we started standing up in the early '80s we switched to International reels droping from 80s to 50s then down to 30s. I think the biggest reason we went with smaller gear was we didn't get into the giants as often (anymore).

Realistically the gear hasn't gotten any "lighter".

The majority of us chasing 100-200lb fish are using reels that are putting down 20+lbs of drag at strike and are capable of 40+ full in a smaller package. Rod technology has gotten better with lighter/faster/stronger blanks.

Line has come a long way.... ie: Jerry Brown 60lb hollow spectra breaks at over 90lbs and is capable of having a 100% ABS loop.

    Thanks JDM GT market!

Rod & reel and stick boats are still carrying around 80's and 130's.

    ehhh...that's "a problem".

We did make it out last friday and it was a rough day in a 23. we went 80miles or so and more north than last trip. ride out was following chop into a head swell which made for some nice wet drops and a tiring ride out. there were fish early and intermittently late, but in the end i was late for an evening plan due to a late hookup and was generally bummed about the trip...felt selfish, but we had a seared steak 3 days later and it was the best tuna i've ever eater...some pics to follow....
