Wow what a GREAT effing weekend! Had an effing GRRRREAT day of skiing yesterday at Kirkwood with the crew. GREAT conditions! GREAT crew! GREAT last run of the day! It was GREAT! FANTASTIC EVEN!

though temted to ski today too, I thought I'd stop playing with fire, give my knee a rest and don't chance tweaking it and having it swell up before surgery on Tuesday, and decided to go for a road bike ride.....

And it was GREAT! Haven't been on the road in awhile and I logged my 70 mile route 5 minutes faster than my personal best! Isn't that GREAT?! And then I bumped into the US Postal Service team at the Mexican joint on my way home! How GREAT is that?!

Wanna hear something even more GREAT than all of this fucking GREATNESSS! As I'm pulling into my garage I hear CRUNCH CRUCHN FICKIGN CRINCHCCCHHHH. WTF is that? That didn't sound so GREAT! And why did all 3 of my neighbors who happen to be out cutting their lawns, collectively sign "ooohhhhhh......"?

Because I rolled right into my fucking garage with my god damn nearly brand new road bike on ttop. It's true what they say about carbon....my bike is now in 3 fucking pieces.

I am awesome.

not that it'll make you feel any better, but I have done that very thing, only with my brother's borrowed bike. Yours sounds like it was worse for the experience though.

homeowners vs. auto....pick a policy any policy.

yeah, can't wait to see how many others have done this.

I just took some pics. It's comical really. You just have to laugh. I haven't stopping cryaughing since.

I think the funniest part are the two handlebar width holes that are now implanted in my house above the garage door. Maybe I can tell people they are bullet holes.

At least all the components are salvageable....so I'll just need a new frame.

It's very cool that it was your bike frame and not YOUR frame. Glad your knee has held out OK till now. Waiting for the pics.

seems like you are getting out more than half the uninjured on this bored. Now that is GREAT!

Bummer...was that the Roubaix? Hopefully homeowner's insurance will cover it.

Rewind, 8 years ago this week. I was getting ready to move from Cleveland to Nuevo Mexico, I bought a Saris roof rack to transport my mtn bike, I had never owned a roof rack before. I was pretty wound up trying to get everything together for my cross country trip in my Geo Prism. Last stop was the bank.

As I go up a ramp to get to the parking lot I hear alot of bad noises and see my mtn bike flying off my roof onto the pavement. I clipped an 8' clearance cable. It was a steel frame so no damage, f'ed up my car and rack.

As I am cruising down the highway to get to a shop to get some replacement parts for the rack I see my tire fly off the roof and into the fast lane, I forgot to secure the tire into the holder on the rack. Luckily no one was behind me.

Good luck getting a new frame.

Bummer man.

Ouch, i know how you feel. I have done it twice and had it done to my bike by a friend once.

First time, trek mountain bike. the roof rack held steady, but the front fork came away in two pieces, in retrospect it looked hilarious, with the handlebars of the bike pinned against the garage and the remainder of the rock shox fork pinned to the roof rack. BTW, watersnowdirt's bike was also on the roof but came away unscathed.

Second time, just had the same bike tuned pre-sale, luckily this time the seat took the hit, destroyed the roof rack tray but the bike was OK (as was the the new fork on the bike).

Third time, my road bike is on my friend's roof rack and she is driving.... no flying into her driveway, sailing into her garage and crash. aluminum frame, bent and toast, took the oppurtunity to upgrade to carbon fiber.

Swore off roof racks, as did my friend and we both bought that hatchback thule rack on the suggestion of watersnowdirt.

In each case, i hadn't been riding that day, just transporting my bike, i just wasn't thinking about riding i guess.

something tells me you had other things on your mind as well.

I did that at McDonalds once. I was pulling in to grab some breakfast before a ride and fucked up the "Clearance" sign above the menu. I walked in and told them I messed up their sign and they said "No problem it just swings back into place." Well, perhaps they should have taken a better look at it first...

Not to address another issue. Ty, you really need to just lock yourself in the house for the rest of the year. Then barring a massive earthquake or freak tornado, you may just make it through the next two months unscathed.

BWA! that brings back a memory...I did the same thing once when I live in PA. Going for an early morning mtb ride in Jim Thorpe (awesome riding), pulled into a fast food joint for coffee (not so awesome coffee), and ended up bending my seat post 90 degrees on the clearance sign. Maybe the worst part of the day though was that I was meeting my friends at the trailhead at 8 AM, so none of the bike shops in town were open yet, so I had to ride for 2 hours standing.....I'm still catching my breath from that day.

yeah wtf? since July, its been one accident after another for me. I was even in a car accident a fews weeks ago (not a scrape luckily)....sheesh.
