    Stowe TR 11/13 (pics)

Great early season day. While it wasn't 24 inches of fresh like last year, it was a beautiful sunny day. We hiked up Lord, which Stowe had been making snow on all week. Went all the way to the Octagon at the top of the quad. Again, really nice day, chilled up there and realished being on top the moutain again with a pair of skis and snow. The whole mountain is covered in natural snow and their projected opening date this friday will definitely happen.

The snow was good most of the way down. The snowmaking mounds were really fun to play with, link together, and gap. About half way down we decided to build a jump because we didn't want to end the run that soon. SkiJunky was the first to test it and we all followed suit. I started getting the feeling that big things were going to happen this year when SkiJunky threw a huge clean front flip to a totally "Match stickin' it Productions" landing on his third jump of the year. Then everyone started tee-ing off with backflips, front flips, spins etc. Everyone's game was on and our on hill time consisted of under 10 min for the year. After that we skied the rest of the way down and did about 2 hours worth of beacon searches under different scenarios. It was a great productive, fun day and everyone was stoked. Then it started snowing

Pics will be links because they are big and I don't have time to resize them (but I do have time to write a TR and not my paper)

Nothing like cheap beer after a hike

    Me- 360

    Buddy RJ- frontflip

    Buddy Don- backflip

SkiJunky- 180- unfortunetly his front and back didn't come out. We had a film cam, I'll post more when we get those.

See all you Stowe folks next friday/sat/sun

Tucks is definitely a place for beacon use, especially during the winter months, but we're headed out west. I'll be in Alta for a week, Jackson Hole for another two and then maybe Baker/Whistler.

My buddies and I were in Jackson last year for a week and we're going back this year for two weeks specifically to start exploring the open gate backcountry. We've been talking to some people out there and will probably going OB with guys who know what they're doing...so we feel we should know what we're doing as well.

It is also a step towards our continuing knowedge about mountains, backcountry safety and avalanches that we will hopefully expand upon throughout our life.

And AKPM how do you know what an orgasm looks like?
