Personally, I'd rather see a kid raised by some hot dykes than a single mom. Since man kind began, marrage was between men and women. Many people believe society is better off that way. Many people believe gay marrage is a sin and don't want to vote for it. Big deal. That doesn't make them evil. No more evil than they think gays are anyways. It's called a disagreement. And too bad for you, and them that you were born in a Christian dominated country. Get over it. Keep fighting your fight and you may eventually win. But when you do, that means we will no longer be a Christian dominated country and we'll be fucked.

the 2 experts in the trial called in to support the gay marriage ban:
one of them, when questioned about the source of his assesrtations of the consequences of gay marriage (12x more likely to molest, downfall of civilization...) said that they all came from a thought experiment where a group of like minded individuals got together and wrote down a list.
The other one supported his conclusions because he "read it on the internet".

A law can not be based on religious beliefs. That violates separation of church and state, and due process laws.

The argument under 14A was used to EXTEND individual rights. Don't feed me BS about how it violates the rights of the STATE under 10A to restrict individuals.
10A was not to be a tool to restrict individual freedoms. That is ALWAYS how it has been used in the cases of rights restrictions, whether it was the de jur racism in the south, or the gun haters trying to ban guns, or the gay hating LDS buying elections.
This is pretty much the same as how McDonald v Chicago and Heller v DC used 14A to incorporate 2A. For further reference, please consult 9A.

Flamboyantly gay people of any race are pretty freaky. Flamboyantly hetero people kinda freak me out too sometimes.

You just demonstrated your absolute ignorance of the initiative process in California. Many initiatives have ultimately been held unconstitutioinal and not just by a lone activist judge, but by the Cal Supreme court. The propositions are frequently badly thought out and so obviously inconsistent with the Federal and California constitutions, one has to wonder if they were put on just to generate the subsequent lawsuit.
As for the notion that because 7,000,000 people voted for something no court should undo it....consider this. In the early 1960s there was an initiative which would have made legal a property owners refusal to rent or sell property on the basis of race. It passed.Quando paramucho mi amore de felice carathon.

Brilliant!
This post is doing to deviate from normal CookieMonster format, which means, it's going to contain a lot of profanity.
It's funny watching the horrified spasms of the ridiculous right. 'Oh no! Teh Gays Are Going to Marry!'. At the same time, it's really pathetic to watch their victim act when they aren't even the one's who were harmed. To the point of harm done: there are many gay couples in California who wish to marry but cannot. The time these couples spend unmarried, which arises as a direct result of the senseless bigotry underlining Prop 8, is time in their lives they can never get back. The flow of prejudice into the lives of gay couples in California has caused tremendous harm, and the additional harm caused by yet-another-endless-series-of-delays-and-denials can never be undone.
DBT, the responses in this thread by people who actually know something about the political system in California reveal what you really are: a sad, little, ignorant man who lives inside a reality distortion field. Lots of your posts talk about keeping government out of people's lives. But like the very average moron that you are, you certainly seem to believe that the government belongs in people's marriages. Seems as if you support big government when it suits you; just like all the other pseudo-conservatives. ( This leads me to the inescapable conclusion that you must live a lot of your life in a state of self-denial, unable to acknowledge that you're not really a conservative, but instead are a man who would prefer to live in a world where religious organisations make the rules ... sort of like in ... say ... IRAN. )
And DBT, before you open your mouth again, let me tell you how I feel about Prop 8 firsthand, as a gay man. DBT, I've lived my entire life subject to various forms of institutional bigotry, and I'm plenty fucking tired of it. I'm lucky to have wonderful, supportive family and friends, but many others are not as fortunate. I think you should walk a mile in my shoes before you come into this thread and start making pronouncements about 'dirty homosexuals' and 'activist judges'. I've spent my entire life unable to marry, with a permanent boyfriend and all the 'trappings' that go along with it, including single filing taxes, dirty stares, an ugly episode in a restaurant parking lot when a large rock was thrown at my car as we drove off.
So fuck you DBT. You're a gutless cunt. ( Not to mention... DO YOU EVEN SKI? Have you posted any stoke? Contributed anything to the community here? Anything? I guess I'm asking ... why are you even here? Maybe you should try hannity.com or something. douchebag.com? cunt.com? ignorant.com? moron.com? Did your wife leave you because you have a little teeny pocket dick? Why are you such a sour asshole anyway? Did your wife leave you for another woman? Is it lack of sex? I only ask because ... I really can't think of any reason why your attitude sucks... and I don't say that just because you're a theocrat ... maybe you're a douchebag who needs to get a life, get laid, hit the snow, whatever. People like you, who are so interested in controlling other people's lives ... it's only because you don't have a life of your own. Oh, and can I reiterate: you're a gutless fucking cunt. )
I want to thank all the supportive responses in this thread; your support and forward-thinking social advocacy means the world to me ( and the rest of us ). It makes a tremendous difference in the fight for equality.Last edited by CookieMonster; 08-06-2010 at 07:13 PM.
