Great Lakes Vacation
July was my month off from my masters program so I figured I might as well take three weeks off from work as well to enjoy the summer on the Great Lakes. Lots of fishing planned and thankfully the weather cooperated most of the time.
Started out by taking my dad over to Sault Ste Marie to fish the St. Mary's River for Atlantic salmon. 6wt fly rods and size 14 nymphs in hand away we went. Started out with a nice sunrise over the river.

Lost a few on streamers for the early bite and found our spot on the wall.

Later in the day my dad finally hooked up and landed his first atlantic on the fly!!

Few hours later and I get a chance to boat a few.

Next on tap was Lake Michigan. Took the wife and family down for a few days on the boat. Weather was mostly crap, but we got out and found a few fish.

Came back home for a day and then headed back to Lake Michigan to help out my friend on his charter boat. Left the camera behind most of the time, but got a few pics.

A decent cooler to take home.

Not bad work for an hour of fishing!

After living on the water for two weeks I took a few days off before ending my vacation by taking a trip 50 miles out on my home waters of Lake Superior and fishing with some friends.

This one is headed for the taxidermist!

Kelly hooked up with a Superior giant that took over a half hour to get in the boat.

Another one headed for the wall!

All in all a great time spent on the water with family and friends. It doesn't get much better than that. No work, phones, computers, bullshit for three weeks. But all good things must come to an end.
