It was sol in the AM north of town. Was back at the same beach around 4 with the kiddo. No wind. Looked nice through sunset. The ledge might be worthy in the AM with the NW filling in. Or combo beach. Loving the fall 90F weather.

OB went off late morning yesterday. Smaller and less consistent this morning, but glassy and still plenty hollow. 85 and sunny added to the fun. Getting barreled for the first time didn't hurt either. Really happy it's not summer anymore.

Yesterday was really fucking fun. Today less so, but still decent. Went in with too high expectation. Might sneak another tomorrow. It is hot. Wore the 2/2 today

Anyone else get some today...?
Not too far, but far enough. It is near a peak and it would need to travel down valley and back up and through town first.
I can see it at night from my deck. Insane.
I took the kiddos up the coast to beach it yesterday. It is 90f and no wind. On the way home we saw a strange cloud coming from the east and as we wrapped into town we could see te smoke coming off what I think is Mt Madonna. Not sure on the peak, tho.
I'm sure your son can see it from lower campus. Welcome to California! Swell and Fire.

Oh fuck yeah. It was 100F in Boulder Creek today. Can't imagine the temps around the fire. 1500 acres and 5% contained.
I've a buddy working the big sur Fire. Those guys bake.
I went surfing today. Midday with a little wind, but a good tide and basically by myself.
Was cooler today and cooler more so tomorrow.

More SSW and warm water. It has been a very good September after I got back from Europe.

How was that cruise and monte Carlo? Always good to be home. I love traveling with the family, but this place is where I want to be. And we might start getting some real snow in a bit. At least the NPAC is nice and active.

I forgot to mention the few dozen red macaws that live in town and always fly around the break..... day after day.

Lots of fun. We got to go ashore each day, sometimes hanging at the beach on Mykonos other times getting a tour of where the Olympics started. The coast of Italy was cool too. The food on the cruise was absolutely amazing. Maybe the best French restaurant I have ever been to and an Italian place that was up there. It was all inclusive, including champagne and house wine. The French restaurant had a $40 dollar reservation fee but considering the meal we had would have been $250 at least in Orange County it was well worth it. Obviously I would have loved for there to have been surf but we got to do some water skiing in the Mediterranean.
Monte Carlo is nuts. The Grand Casino is smaller than I expected but still a beautiful building. The bars and clubs are super fun too, nice to pretend you are very rich and European for a night. The hotel we were staying at, a Fairmont, had a sweet pool party on the rooftop pool overlooking the Mediterranean. I can see why all the rich euros, including Jon Olsson and Henrik Windstedt who spend their summers there, want to live there.
Overall it was tons of fun. Of course surf would have put it in the stratosphere but I really can't complain. I hope everyone here gets that experience at some point, although for you guys with young kids it would be difficult to get away for 12 days.
It has been nice to come back to surf and warm water, it reminds me of the fact that as much fun as the cruise was I live in a great place. There has been pretty consistent surf in OC the past few weeks and the water is still pretty warm. It looks like it should hold through the weekend so some Trestles days are in order. I should be able to get out early tomorrow afternoon. Hope you guys get some up there, it sounds like you are. Is Santa Cruz EVER less than shoulder high?"Have you ever seen a monk get wildly fucked by a bunch of teenage girls?" "No" "Then forget the monastery."

I'm sure it is. But with life to live it is rare I find my self trying to surf then. Just finishing up a long kitchen remodel. Started teaching a farm to fork class last week and finishing up a contract with a FSM company in SF all while raising an awesome offspring. But when I do get to surf, it is usually shoulder high or more. Especially from fall through spring. One of the reasons why I love it here. Not to mention the forests.

Yeah man! I did a cruise of the Med quite a few years ago hitting the Greek Islands. Pretty bitchin' place. Cruises aren't really my thing, but It was kinda cool to hit quite a few different spots over a relatively short period of time.
Sent out my kids other board via UPS yesterday. Hopefully she gets there in one piece.
We have some waves here, but it's been choppy. Rog sent me a pic from the Vinyard that looked awesome...nice an clean, maybe chest/head.

Fun morning in Newport today. Surfline said 1-3, but it was clean so I went anyway. It turned out to be a big bigger, maybe stomach high with the occasional chest high set. Some of the stomach high lefts were really fun and it stayed clean. It ended up being much more fun than I expected. Sometimes you just have to go and say screw Surfline. Sometimes the small days in Newport are really fun. It is still clean right now.

Went the The Boardroom Show today in Santa Cruz. Stoked they brought that up here. Surf was freaking tiny in SC though so headed up to a smaller way more exposed point and caught many fun 2-3'ers since no one was out.

Head further west. It looked pretty packed at 3 and 4. It was solid head high over head on the exposed coast. I'm sure OB was OH. Suuuuiuper clean today. Fun long period energy.
I'm surfing about 9am tomorrow if you are still around. There is a cliff involved. And it was full today with regulars. Might be the same tomorrow. But it will likely still be solid.
Scotts also is a good option and easy access.

Anyone else get some today...?
Oh. Monday. Not the weekend.
Stay at home dad means I pretty much surf mid week after school drop off. I do some contract work, so that usually happens in the afternoons.
It can be amazingly crowded at some breaks around here once everyone goes to work. Vote to legalize weed.

Yesterday morning was sort of a mess at OB. Well OH for sure, but onshore winds and a background short period swell made things pretty funky.
Different story today. Still solid overhead+, consistent sets, and glassy/almost offshore. Some really fun waves this morning.
