    Emerald Lake

Roots, rocks and the sound of rushing water made for a rollicking ride up to beautiful Emerald Lake last night after work. 4.5 miles and 2,000' up to the lake and a fun, fast descent back down. Due to a time share agreement, as of 7/16 the trail is closed to bikes on Sundays and Mondays.

Holy fuck, could the trail be any wider here? Two jeeps could pass side-by-side there. Is that a campsite?

Oh no! Creaky old fossil doesn't like one of Bozeman's classics? At your speed you might not be able to camp but you could probably fit in a good nap! Stay the away it might put your Depends(tm) in a wad!

Yup, the trail has gotten wider over the years, but for me it doesn't detract from the challenge(more rocks and roots to rally over) or the aesthetics of the journey and the destination.

Yo mildwillie, have they cleared all the trees across the trail yet? We rode until we hit snowpack in late june and it was kind of a clusterfuck -- made me want to go back with a chainsaw.

oh, and thanks for posting. definitely one of my favorites.

Encountered no trail blockages; it is riding cleanly...thank you to those that cleared the way.

I did that on my hard tail 2 years ago just about to the day. It did not go well.
Awesome trail, though. And very scenic.
