    Alice in Wonderland

First time I saw it, I was mildly impressed. Thought Burton did a good job on the movie without making it overly dark and, well, Burtonesque.

Saw it again last week on DVD and was more impressed. Beautiful cinematography/animation. But mostly, the acting by Johnny Depp and what's her name playing the Red Queen just struck me as high quality, academy award - level stuff. Especially Depp and expecially when you look at the variety of roles he has done. The Hatter role is like 3 different characters. I particularly like the scenes when he recites from the poem 'Jabberwocky' and his voice and appearance change over to an almost posessed or psychotic tone. Awesome stuff!

yes, artsy stuff is tough to swallow once one has been fed on a blockbuster diet for a while.

to really bake your noodle with a recent release, i suggest The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.

It seemed like he used at least a couple different accents, which would help explain the 3 different character idea. I thought it was a pretty good movie.
