where to thermofit boots in Mammoth?
Krystal Kartwright got new liners for her T1's. We'll be in Mammoth in a couple of weeks, and I figured to just have then done while we're on the road. Mammoth Mountaineering seems like the obvious choice. Anyone have any other suggestions?
sorry

Yes, alot of experience there with tele and AT boot molding. Do not got to the footloose, clueless
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

Preston at Kitteridge has molded a couple for me. Never had work done at MM, but it is a good shop with good people, they just can't upgrade my Pieps.

Like most things it depends on who you see at Footloose. I'm not their biggest fan as they do think they are a little too cool and there are some dudes there who don't have a clue but think they do because of the rep Footloose has.
That said Kevin definitely knows feet and boots and I would absolutely have no problem having him mold liners. I'm gonna wager Corty also knows what he is doing on a molding. He has definitely fit far more boots and understands feet more than anyone at MM.
MM does play with more Tele and AT boots, but I don't think their guys understand feet and the interaction with boots as well if this makes any sense. If you have "normal" feet and just want a molding, yeah, I would go to MM. If you have more complex stuff I would start looking for a dude who knows feet better than their guys.He who has the most fun wins!

Thanks for the beta. That's why I asked. Krystal has pretty "normal" feet - no major bootfitting issues. All we really need is an oven and some toe caps. We thought about doing them at home, but I simply don't want to deal with it. If I'm going to spend $40, I'd rather not have some doofus do it.

I found Footloose a lot more expensive then Kitteridge, but I have had a fair amount of work done a Kitteridge, and Preston has always given me a good deal. A few six packs of quality may have helped.
I agree with comish, footloose has some great fitters, but others aren't so good. Same at Kitteridge, and probably MM too, but I have no first hand experience there.

Thread revival and hijack all in one but I didn't want to start a new thread and gum up the forums.
I usually go to P3 but just wanted to check if anyone has suggestions on the best shop for a mount. I know there's probably a small chance for a bad mount but I'm about to get a sweet pair of lhasa's mounted and I want zero chance of a banged up mount job.
I know footloose sees a ton more volume of customers than P3 and I'm wondering if maybe they might be more reliable as a result. I'd prefer not to go to footloose but these are my baby's and I'm willing to drive to Tahoe if needed to make sure these things are mounted right.

I have had work done at Kittridge, but not a mount. I recall Splat complaining about them not being able to mount fat skis, but I don't remember details. I can't imagine any shop not being able to mount 112mm skis. Over all I like the vibe in Kittridge, but if I recall correctly P3 a has the same owner.

cool man! Not a big difference but these are lhasa fats at 116.
I might just do P3 unless someone else chimes in with strong comments for/against.
You heading up this weekend hutash?

I don't understand, it's not brain surgery. Heat for 10 min, meantime tape footbed/ortho to foot, apply toecap, put something over this like nylons, pull up on liner and do one at a time while trying not to get any of the liner bunched up.

i would go see corty at footloose. he is one of the best period. i have had a few bad experiences at kitteredge, will never go back there. p3...they seem to be more of a snowboard shop. yea they sell some skis, but it isnt a place i would feel confident about having boot work done. i have heard good things about mm, never had any work done there. but have had good experiences in shopping there.

^^^^Well next time you need to mount some skis, just drive down to my place in Coronado and we can do it with my sweet new drill press. Just did my first mount a week ago and I did a pretty good job. Better than most shops I am sure.
And ya, late season sticky snow always scares the shit out of me for that very reason.
