    Alaska Summer Vacation Ideas

I've been up to Alaska a few times and now my wife wants to go. I normally spend most of my time with 10,000 of my closest friends in the Kenai/Soldotna area fishing kings/reds/silvers around the end of July. Anyway, I'm still considering going to the same area and doing the same thing, but I thought I would see if anyone else has any recommendations. I'm looking for $2000 or less per person for a week in an area with decent fishing and still things for my wife to do other than fishing when she doesn't feel like going with me. I know of a couple of fly out lodges that would be awesome fishing for me, but I think she would get bored after a while. Any suggestions on areas, lodges, cabins, etc to rent for a week in Alaska would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: We're looking at going next summer.

I don't know any specific lodges. But for areas; Bristol Bay, Kodiak, Prince of Whales and Katmai/Illiamna are tops on my list. They're each huge and areas though and that prolly didn't help you out at all.

Kodiak all the way...or a couple days in Homer, then onto Kodiak. Plenty of B and B's, lodges, fishing choices abound, golf, a semblance of normal life with a little shopping.

Beats the crap outa keeping her holed up in King Salmon or Dillingham in my opinion. Although AKPM may like those places.
