zee matterhorn en zermatt
figure i'd get in a couple of warm up days on the glaciers of zermatt. it was cheap (for zermatt) at this time of the year and i'd never venture there with the hordes. if you ever get a chance to see the matterhorn, it really is beautiful.

Nice!
How was the crevasses filling up there at the higher altitudes?
Not much snowfall recently, or?
Any pics by chance...I have never been good with facts.

11-08-2004, 11:11 AM #7was there this past weekend, wind came up on sunday a bit and they had to close at about 2:30, but got very lucky in general. it was an anniversary of sorts for my gf and i so i wasn't too worried about the skiing, it was more just to be there and get a few runs into the legs. they have a 'ski test' deal going with 2 nights, 2 days lift tix, and tons of skis to try out for about 200 euros/person depending on hotel.

top half had very good, soft, winter snow, bottom half was a touch icy underneath, but not bad at all. quite a few italians were up from cervinia.
i'm probably going to try and hit a weekend in december somewhere, but it'll be very snow dependent and quite last second. i'll let you know where tho.

V.61, Weekend deal looked pretty sweet for Zermatt. If you could do it on weekend, Nov 20/21 or 27/28 I bet we could talk Ripzalot and TeleAl into joining in. Mid-week would be difficult, both working. Ripz was suppose to return on the 19th. I could PM if you are serious.

i'd like to ski saas-fee, but have never done it. there's an amazing tour around those parts that i'm hoping to do this winter. start in alagna, skin up b/t the lyskam and monte rosa, ski the glacier down into zermatt. lift up to the klein matterhorn, ski back down to cervinia, skin up and over to champoluc and then lift it across gressoney back to alagna. it can be done in a day, a long day.
