Books Rec: Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk

Honestly, one of the best books I've read in a long, long time. And I read a fair amount. Chuck Palahniuk is a genius, plain and simple. Anyone else read this?

I've stopped getting excited about Palahniuk books. Everytime a new one comes out, the story seems sick, but just ends up collapsing into its own absurdity halfway though. Snuff is a solid example - great premise (aging porn star tries to nail 600 men on screen in 24 hours) but I lost all interest by the end.

Reverend, I'll take your positive review as a sign of hope that Chuck is back on top of his shit.

I've found that people either really like his stuff or they think he's a complete idiot. Personally, I'm torn.

Haven't read Pygmy. Probably will tho.

I did not like pygmy that much, or choke for that matter

but I really liked survivor and fight club, even though both narrators had pretty much identical voices

Jer--no bullshit, Pygmy could have been written by you. I will be very surprised if you don't like it. Not saying you'll love it, but I think you'll dig it.

Personally, I think those that don't like him can't handle his cynicism, which I found Irish Spring refreshing. He pretty much picks apart American Midwestern/methodist/baptismal/Walmart culture with a hyper creative scalpel. I found myself laughing my ass off on a plane, then thoroughly disgusted upon landing at ATL.

Agreed--could have been the same character. I enjoyed them both but Pygmy was a pretty big departure from that voice, and I dug it.

Is there a place in the world for someone who liked Fight Club the book but hated the movie? (yeah, I know, I'm the only one who hated that movie...)
You really need to stop knowing WTF you're talking about. (Tippster)
