Thread: Dynafit Set Up

Well, shit. I'm gonna go ahead and JONG myself here... I was just down at my local shop and my friend just about totally has me sold on a Dynafit set up for my Lawnchairs. I was going to have him order me some Freerides, but now he's got me scratching my goatee about these. He can hook me up with the TLT700 boots, the Tech binding and skins for around $550. Or it's Freerides and skins for around $250 to $300.

I am sooooo torn. What 'll it be? Basically, right now the Lawnchairs have Solly S900 Demo's on 'em and I have a pair of Trekkers. It's a total bumble and stumble set-up; especially since I compared them to the Dynafit set up, or even Freerides for that matter. The only thing making me lean towards the freerides is that I love my Langes and my Flexons... But those TLT 700's were very kind to my feet, walking around the shop. Also, if I get the Dynafit boots, I don't think they will jive with my other alpine skis.....

What to do??????

The Dynafits are a great setup. Ski much, much better that they look.

A bit more finicky than a Fritschi, but definately tour better.

Check to see how the Dynafit boots fit. If they don't fit, bail.

Dynafit's are a touring binding, not as fiddly as tele gear, but not the step in convenience of Freerides. I have Freerides and Dynafits, dynafits tour better.

After some soul searching this week-end, I've decided to go with the Freerides for now. I figured that since I will still be skiing a majority of the time in area, the Freerides are more practical. I am really interrested in the Dynafit for a future set-up, though.

Now the question is...

He can order either the NAXO's or the Freerides. I just have to decide which one I want. He told me he thought alpine boots would work better in the Freerides, if I were to choose between the two; but the NAXO's might tour better. I've never actually seen the NAXO's with my own eyes to scratch & sniff them, so I have no experience with them...

If you end up with naxo,make sure that theay are the 04/05 model,
stated something like, NX 01wa or something...
Should be a improved durability on the new ones.

You should bumb into a intresting point of view in those threads.
People are complaining about the durabilities of the both bindings of being unadequate, when they have actually used them for hard/very hard inbounds skiing and hucking stuff, for witch they are not designed
for...
It is true that both bindings have some issues,escpecially the first year naxo,that come up in normal touring. But read the post with that in mind.

My personal opinion (having skiied with freerides and owning naxos) is:

Freerides are a bit better for people: Skiing 70% and Skinning 30%.
Naxos for people who : Skiis 50% and Skins 50%.

and maybe then Dynafits for those that Skiis 30% and skins 70% ?

Which is about what I expect to be doing. As far as the durrability, I've heard that they are all good within reason; I am not going to be using these in the park or in the bumps, etc. I am mostly going to be on these on soft snow/pow days at resorts and touring into (hopefully) soft snow/pow areas in the bc.

I'll do the search and read up some more, and post any follow-ups or questions I have.
