Question Kona Smoke - your thoughts requested

Gonna be needing a city bike for summer knee rehab and found a 2007 Smoke for under $200.

It's been a while since I've bought a bike, but I think this one will suit me nicely.

Previous owner was a bike commuter, but admits he's not much of a mechanic. (I am pretty comfortable fixing em)

    Any thoughts positive or otherwise?

Why not, right? The upshot being that Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop is not only nearby, but also a Kona dealer.

Yup. flowtron's_ghost is their product manager. My life simplified greatly when I found Salvagetti. Granted Joe and I are buddies, but it goes beyond that. Its one of the best shops (of any nature) I have ever been in.

The sky is the limit for those folks and they are appreciative of your bidness.

Not that I need a $12,000 track bike or anything, but I will drop in next time I'm in the neighborhood. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Nope. Heard they're snootier than most.

But I'll give em a chance to earn my business. Cuz there's no way they're snootier than ME.

When you go in to the shop to look around, borrow a Magna or Next and ride it to the shop.

They're in for the ultimate litmus test when I take in a secondhand $200 bike for minor repairs.

You should see the $50 barrista clap jobs that frequent Salvagetti. That thing is luxe.

can't speak to the shop, but the smoke is a really decent bike for what you are looking to use it for. As a city commuter it is super simple, and can be adorned however needed for your climate (fenders, racks, etc)

I'd just be real friendly to you and saw halfway through your pedal spindles
