Don't let the door hit ya Steve Wynn
From the LV Citylife's editor http://www.lasvegascitylife.com/arti...q_35609749.txt

-----------------
"After casino mogul Steve Wynn told cable TV business shows that he was thinking of relocating his corporate headquarters from Nevada to Macau, ostensibly because of President Barack Obama's socialist, anti-business tendencies, the town's elite was quick to wring its hands.
Politicians lamented the loss of one of Nevada's first citizens, the man who made -- and then re-made -- modern Las Vegas. The Chamber of Commerce said Las Vegas needs Wynn. The Review-Journal -- instead of pointing out the absolute idiocy of a man quitting America for communist China, all because he objects to "socialism" -- took the opportunity to bash Obama, too.
They're all wrong. If Wynn wants to leave Las Vegas, we should help him pack and give him a ride to the airport. (The executive terminal, that is, where they park the fancy private jets.)
Yes, Wynn has created some masterpiece casinos. He created the mega-resort, and then the ultra-luxury resort. But that's no reason to make the guy into a god.
Remember, this is the same person who got the Clark County Commission to pass a special law about his use of water at the Bellagio, and then laughed about it in the New York Times. It's the same guy who got a special tax break for fine art passed after he indulged his urge to collect, sometimes at company expense. It's the same guy who decided stealing his dealer's tips and redistributing the wealth to pit bosses (hey, that sounds familiar...) was a good idea. It's the same guy who boasted that his Wynn Las Vegas -- while nice and all -- was a building on par with the great pyramids of Egypt.
Las Vegas's loss is Macau's loss, too.
Plus, people have got to be growing weary of Wynn's relentless attacks on Obama for his alleged socialism, which are every bit as fictional as the Egypt/pyramid thing. If Obama is a socialist, he's doing a damn good job hiding it amid his tepid embrace of what used to be known as the Democratic agenda.
But that's OK. Wynn's supposedly a smart guy -- and if you doubt it, simply ask him and he'll tell you, or such is the rumor. He'll soon figure out the difference between American-style capitalism and actual socialism once he takes up residence in his new adopted home of Macau. (That's a special administrative region of China, which is a communist country.)
Wynn has done his fair share of sucking up to Beijing, which is part of doing business in the people's republic. But that may not save him from the vagaries of the controlled market. One can only imagine what he'll say if, someday, the ruling party decides that gambling is an industry best nationalized, thank you very much. And if Wynn thinks Obama is a socialist, wait until he gets a look at the Chinese method of wealth redistribution.
One can only hope Wynn has not become too used to flapping his lips about presidential overreaching, inasmuch as that's frowned upon in China. Ditto the exercise of religion or unrestricted Google searches.
Good night and good luck, Mr. Wynn, although we'd hardly be surprised to see you return to Las Vegas in short order. We're sure your old friends will welcome you back.
In the meantime, it might be helpful to think back to a simpler time, when a simpler man was president. The fans of George W. Bush had little patience for America's critics, and developed a very useful phrase that now seems somehow appropriate, given the circumstances . How did that go again?
Oh, that's right: "America: Love it or leave it."

We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

Steve Wynn is pure and unadulterated scumbag. He's taken an already scummy, whack-job of a city and made into the capital and shangri-la of scummy, whack-job cities...just way more expensive now, than ever.
He's like that nutjob casino-owner in "Back to the Future II"...the one that was the high school thug in the first movie. Almost totally the same douche-bag, just in REAL life, instead of Hollywood.

When Blurred, Good4nothing, and I visited the Wynn, Good4nothing took a piss on the plastic trees... INSIDE the Casino... then he went outside and pissed on the trees in the roundabout... while wearing aviators and a truckers hat dragging around a sixer of miller. It was hilarious.
