    Shipping skis to NZ

So, i bought some skis in the US with the intention of getting my mate to send them over once they arrived (ordered them when i left so weren't there when i had to fly back home)

I've bought a lot of gear and had it shipped through online stores like evogear ect.

It's never cost me more than about $90 to get stuff sent, but somehow i'm getting quotes of like $300+ which is insane on DHL, Fedex, UPS ect. Have prices recently taken a hike? I'm not sure, but does anyone know of a cheap(er) option, sea shipping is fine as i don't need my stuff until July.

I always use USPS internationally because it's cheapest by far, but I know nothing about NZ

Yeah USPS is cheap, but they have a pretty small length limit.

There is a pretty extensive thread on buying gear overseas on one of the aussie forums:

The normal price for shipping skis US - NZ is about $300. Some online shops who send huge volumes have cheaper prices negotiated with shippers, usually about $70-90 for skis. Using 3rd party shipping companies is still really expensive. They really only exist to enable shipping from a supplier who won't ship to NZ. They can be cost effective, however, if you have a lot of stuff to bring in.

    Sorry I don't have a solution
