Cable Modem
Does anyone know what's the best and least expensive ( u know what i mean) cable modem that's compatible with comcast internet? renting sucks

Do you need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? If not, and you don't have Comcast digital voice, I've had good results with the Motorola Surfboard.

Ya I was looking at the surfbds just wondering how good of one I need. I tested the up and download speeds and got 4.39 and 20.08. I assume those vary.

The Comcast installer told me they have less trouble with the surfboards than anything else. Mine is rock solid.

Craigslist. Whatever is cheap. I got some generic brand 2 years ago and it's never blinked on Comcast or RCN.
At one point I went to BestBuy and tried a whole slew of 'em, including the Motorola Surfboard. No measurable difference.
The bottleneck is not the modem...Are we there yet?
