Midwesterners...
What has become of the plans for a midwest mini?

I dunno? there was a lot of talk of a mini at mt. bohemia, seeing that it has the most decent vert/snow, but consensus seemed that it was too far, and maybe a boyne or nubs mini would be better, then serchmont was thrown in there, because of some of the touring possibilities.
I am up to attend pretty much where ever it happens. I will be gone in europe skiing jan 7- 23 and then gone to utah on pres week in feb.

I'd go to Nub's or (shudder) Boyne, but jeebus, i think we can be a little more ambitious (although I guess that's easy for me to say)

Yeah...it's all just comparing one turd to another
I guess it's just a matter of which turd has the least offensive odor
and which you preferBuy nice things here.

Actually according to the poll that was posted, the majority wanted Bohemia, but the majority of the people actually posting wanted Searchmont. I would do Bohemia, but for the time that it would take to get me to Michigan, I could almost be to Loveland. Either Feb. or March are best for me.

c'mon you wussies. suck it up and drive to bohemia
I dont think I could make it to boyne or anywhere in nothern lower MI because I am not gonna drive 5 hours to ski nubs when its 45 min to bohemia.
how about this? a mini mini, brule is going to open up relatively soon and they always open way early and its always a friday and its always free. Anyone want to meet up and ski 200 vert of manmade ice?
edit: whoa, got my name changed already....ahhh much better, thanks owens!

AND I ALMOST FORGOT............Those fuckers at bohemia lied to me last year about thier coverage.......they said it was great and there was tons of snow, so I booked the trailside cabin for my friends and I............
I wanted to be sure of the coverage so I called information and asked for random people who live in the area................so It's christmas morning and I'm telling people "HI and merry christmas I'm an asshole from downstate.......any skiers in this household?" the one I found said there was dirt all over the hill........they lied..........they took my money for the cabin.........and when I called and asked AGAIN about the coverage I told them I talked to Joe Blow in copper harbor and he said blah blah ............they hung up on meBuy nice things here.

Didn't mean to make you mad man... Just stating the facts for me. This is exactly what I thought would happen when I posted the original question. The midwest is too damn big and too damn short to make it viable for everyone. Definately sucks that they would lie about the coverage at Bohemia too.
Rip-
I may be up there once or twice this year... As for Brule, depends on when they open.

Fine.
I'll have my own damn mini at Searchmont with my dog.
And I don't even have a dog.
Does someone have a dog I can borrow?
I'm so lonely............Looking California, feeling Minnesota.

I've skied at both quite a bit..........I can honestly say that Searchmont would be better for a summit type gathering...........terrain is just about as good, and there would be stuff to do after 4:30.

I agree that the midwest is too damn big to please everyone. If it's at searchmont, I'll prolly be there, if it's at Bohemia, maybe. If it is at Boyne or nubs, definately. Brule for one run of manmade ice, Nope, but you guys that are w/in an hour or so have a blast.
Nohills, yes I plan to have lots of fun in Europe.

Since we're kinda handicapped by driving times to a handfull of worthwhile resorts, Zac & I'd be willing to drive to pretty much anywhere the mini is. It's gonna be a long drive in any case.
I'm down for Bohemia, Boyne, Nubs, or Searchmount assuming dates don't conflict with a mid-term or something. I'd definitely like to do something cheap like a campsite though."I smell varmint puntang."

personally, I am not so up for winter camping in the midwest, we could all split a cabin/house rental, or get rooms in Petosky if there is enough interest in Boyne/nubs.

You should drive down to Welch Village on the weekends. I'll keep an eye out for a scary black man with a red shirt.

Might be kinda cool to coincide it with the Midwestern Rep show. Maybe score some media/shop passes and get some free shwag.

If Searchmont is chosen, couch and floorspace can be provided at the Casa de Bigsugar.
edit: for those with financial concerns.......the drive from my house is like a half hour. No biggie, we do it 3-4 times a week.Last edited by bigsugar; 10-26-2004 at 05:15 PM.

My votes Bohemia, mid feb would be a nice time since they will still be getting snow and it will probably be above zero.
