At the moment I'm thinking 3 finalists based on the number of entries, any objections?

Perhaps it was a piss poor theme, but with the utter lack of entries and no objections posted, I chose to not water down the voting thread by choosing everything submitted except for DB's percocet-inspired photoshop experiment.

Hop chose 4 for potential rather than 5. Based on my role of moderator, I felt these were the best photos of the few submitted.

If it makes you feel any better, had I gone for 4, Wes's would have rounded out the group. So right back at ya

@Lonnie, I liked your photo on the stairs of the courthouse/legislature. I like many of your photos.

But jesus, get a grip. That is to say, I appreciated your PM on top of your "fuck you"-s here in this thread.

PS. I didn't check the thread yesterday, so I didn't see the 3 announcement. A PM would have been nice.....

You make a good point.

I should have pm'ed the entry posters.

I realize not everyone checks every thread every day.

This challenge didn't go quite as I'd hoped, I just assumed people were over it and didn't care...

I do apologize. I do really like your photos. Your bike that I think you entered in "unsightly" is probably my favorite of yours.

If I'm lucky enough to be a moderator again and something similar happens, I'll be sure to pm the entrants.

I want to make sure I don't take away from the posters who were chosen. I really like the 3 photos to choose from.

Splitter, FWIW, I thought you had a solid theme. I'm not sure why the entries were low this time around, but hopefully these things pick up again. There have been some very cool entries in the past. Perhaps all the photogs around here are too busy either skiing or hibernating?

Nothing says community like three people trying to dig the asshole who got his makeshift plow truck stuck in the middle of the street out. But nice shot Lev!

Ah, All is good in the hood. Again, nobody was beatin Lev in this one anyway. Not been in a very creative mood recently, and I guess my butt hurt about that was showing.

Lev should just go ahead and start the next one...

I'm glad to hear that, I understand that it was a lame move to just post 3.

Like I said, it was a good point regarding pm'ing the other submitters. Perhaps that should become requisite (unless it is and I jonged this up) when modifying the procedure slightly.

Or, maybe, it should still be the realm of the moderator to decide. It would just be less douche-y if the moderator made sure everyone knew.

Let's leave it up for a few days to make sure everyone that doesn't check every thread every day gets a chance to vote.

The timing does suck with Presidents Day weekend starting and the extra day off for many people to shoot.

I agree with this, and the reasoning splitter used to only choose three shots for the final.

If you are the moderator of a low-entry MPC, feel free to do what you have to do. I chose four images for "potential" because I wanted to keep the images to the best images in the contest as well as only one-image-per-finalist.

If your stuff isn't chosen to be in the finals, that's your cue to do better next time.

I saw a picture from the AP of a snowed in neighborhood from that storm that was the front page of more than one newspaper in town that didn't even come close to touching that shot!
