Drill skis 3rd time for freerides or find some Barons to match drill holes?
I am getting some 182 Liberty Double Helix Skis that have been drilled twice, once for Marker Baron bindings size small. I currently have some Fritschi Freeride bindings (the older blue ones, I'm not sure whether those are the freeride plus or not). Should I drill these skis for the third time and mount my freerides, or should I buy some Marker Baron bindings and sell my freerides so that I do not have to drill again? I can get a good deal on used Marker Barons for about $225, so I won't lose much selling my Freerides and getting Barons. I am mostly concerned about the performance of the binding and the performance of the ski if I need to drill it the third time. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That's a very wide ski. If they're ever going to see the resort or anything other than deep snow I'd say put on some Barons. I say that because that big plank will be for more responsive being driven by an alpine binding...which is basically a Duke/Baron.
edit: drilling for a 3rd time is a non-issue unless you are overlapping/really close to existing holes.Last edited by Johnny Sizzler; 02-08-2010 at 09:51 PM. Reason: add piece about drilling

Two reasons to get the Baron. 1. It's already drilled for them. 2. They will drive that ski way better than the Fritschi.Leave No Turn Unstoned!

The "older blue ones" are Titanal IIIs and suck, Freerides would have been a better alternative but you should still go for the Barons.

Thanks everybody. It looks like I am going to buy the skis and the bindings and be broke for a while. At least until I can sell the titanal 3's.
