The burger there is OK, but generally I agree. The food at Bitter Bar is actually pretty awesome (if pricey), so it's worth ordering some food there. Same with Oak at 14th.

Also, if you're a beer guy, Kitchen [Upstairs] on Pearl and 11th (the door is just to the right of the Kitchen) has a HUGE beer cellar, tons of rare Belgians and such, plus decent cocktails and great food.

Good thing my flight out isn't until 5:30 PM the next day. Sounds like it's gonna be a wallet-thinning bender of a night ... too bad I can't put it all on the expense card

Don't know if I can swap you because I'm heading out of town that weekend, but if you drop a bottle of Simtra off with Denver/Boulder mags, I'll buy the first round next time I'm out in the bay! I've been wanting to try Simtra since I first heard you mention it.

And agreed, Kitchen is great. And I haven't read the whole thread but Avery is a good time too.

    Have a good trip!

Okay I'm gonna see tonight about picking up Simtra ...

How far is Bitter Bar from the Marriott on Canyon? I'm leaving from Wheat Ridge around 4 or 5 pm, checking into the hotel @ Boulder, and then ready to game.

Is Bitter Bar super busy on Friday nights? Ill prolly start by drinking and just eating there.

Ill pm my number later to folks who might be up for some beers! Looking forward to a fun trip!

Oooookay, got skunked on the Simtra, buuut ...

Any Golden / Boulder mags want a special delivery, I can bring with me:
1 x Knee Deep Hoptologist (beat Pliny the Younger in 2012 SF Beer Week DIPA Festival)
1 x Knee Deep Hop Shortage (very dry-malted, ultra bitter TIPA)
1 x Green Flash Palate Wrecker (just about the single most ruinous bitter beer I have ever had!)

    Ahem. Now taking bids

Scralph, side note, just bought plane tickets to head to the Bay in mid-May, so maybe we can hookup for some Simtra then.

I'm flying to Norway in mid-May

I'm also hanging out in the "Boulder of Norway," also known as Tromso!

    Good times last night.

Avery -> Kitchen Upstairs -> West End Tavern -> Bitter Bar -> somehow stumbled back to the Marriott.

Going back into town now, to see if I can find where I left my dignity!

BraddA, thanks for the tour man, fun as heck times!

    Cool story, Hansel.

So are all these hippies down by the creek homeless or do they actually live somewhere?

Richard Linklater called, he wants his "Slacker" extras back

There's some of both. Glad you had fun there. It's a great place.

I agree with much of the above. Not a fan of Bitter Bar. Way to fucking hipster for me and I'm a simple man when it comes to booze. Don't put anything in my Bourbon but a piece of ice. West End for Bourbon. Southern Sun, Backcountry Pizza, Fate, or Avery for beer. Zolo for coin style margs and pretty good tex mex. Efrain's for incredible mexican and traditional style margs. Oak and the Kitchen/up/next door for good food. Louisville is starting to turn the corner as well.
