Best sushi in a ski town...

Saketumi in Steamboat comes to mind (excellent non-traditional rolls).

That place in Park City, I forget what it is called, but some of the best Toro and Maguro I have ever had.

Not really a ski down, but East by Southwest in Durango for the Tazmanian Salmon that only costs $6.50 a piece.

What great sushi joints have you been to in ski towns?

    Matsuhisa/Nobu in Aspen.

Shoko Cafe in Santa Fe is pretty damn good, but Santa Fe isn't a ski town.

Sushi Bar in Winter Park is ridiculously cheap and decent (not close to the best, but good enough and cheap).

Honestly Sushi and Skiing sounds like the least appealing combo to me.

You are from Philly, the below statement does not surprise me.

Had I asked about cheesesteaks and skiing, you would be set!

The one time I was at Masa was AWESOME!

Ate next to Brian Iguchi. Had a good conversation about beer.

That place sucks. OK, maybe it doesn't completely suck (I was only there once), but it's mediocre at best--seriously, the place downstairs from me that I don't go to anymore because it's so unappealing is about the same.

Sushi Village, on the other hand, has always been great. In fact, I prefer its sushi to Nobu's, which is supposedly one of the finest sushi places in the country. Now Nobu may have it all over Sushi Village in terms of decor and all that, but for great, fresh sushi, it's Sushi Village.

Why? I love sushi. We have great sushi in philly.
(Cheesesteaks are also not very good after skiing. Too fatty. If you are tired you'll never digest those things. Hoagie is much better.)

Masa is good. Can be hard to get a seat. But I'm a little spoiled living on the coast.

Ummmmm Japan? Honestly. Nothing outside of The Land of the Rising Sun can compare.

But my opinion of sushi is a little different than most.

Japan is obviously good for skiing and sushi but not necessarily together as the mountain regions are not near the ports to get fresh fish. That said, by far the best sushi skiing combo is undoubtedly Sapporo. Not a ski town by the strict definition but there is great skiing within an hour and its cold port makes for some of the best sushi in the world.
